eCommerce store + Blog??

I'm about to start a new Jewelry eCommerce store and thinking of getting a blog for it.

I'm thinking of placing my Blog 1 click away from my homepage and of every
other page, this way I won't need to get backlinks from other sites to it
and It'll hopefully rank well on Google from the baclinks of my inner pages.

One thing tho.. I ain't sure that I care much of it being indexed or not... I mean,
I only thinking of creating a Blog to my site so spice it up a bit and so google
see that this site is updated regularrely..

But, I ain't sure if it effects jus the blog to the site as whole..

I never created a Blog before and ain't sure if my plan is SEO-correct. So I'd appreciate feedback.

thx

    Having regular updates to your content is always a good idea. Obviously, you don't want to distract people from the buying process, but talking about your products is probably going to work very well for you.

    It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

    As was already posted the content will help you as content is always a good thing and why you would want to block that I would have no idea. Creating blog post on specific products will help you not hurt. If you have 100 products then create a blog post around each of those 100 products.

    If you insist on blocking you can add to the blogs header file the following meta tag

    Code:
    <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" />
