@Dayne Dylan - actually you can just use YouTube, here's what you do... create a video and upload it to YouTube, you don't have to put any music with it at this point.

After uploading it, go to My Videos and select AudioSwap, then browse the music that you can use as the background and when you find one you like, YouTube will embed the music with your video, here's a link to check it out: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

BTW, this no April Fool's Joke, I have used it, the only pet peeve is that the music ends abruptly when the video ends. Good luck

First up, do not infringe copyright even though others do so, and no matter how tempting it may seem.
There a multitude of sources for low cost music and audio.

Do google search for "royalty free music"
Also type in "music for video" and look at the other suggestions that display below the entry field on the google search page and check out some of the samples until you find something that you like

Another very useful resource is Mike Stewart who has been in multimedia for decades. He has a website call "twobuckthemes".



Adding an audio track with the right music makes a huge impact to the effectiveness of a video.

You can use itunes store and search for royalty free music..

Something slightly different - I like to use Sonicfire Pro by Smart Sound.

It's a program AND sound files. There are hundreds of tracks in multiple genres to choose from

There are two GREAT reasons to use this program. Firstly the tracks are customizable in length. You want 10 seconds. No problem. You want 50 seconds - no problem. Just type in your desired length and the program adjusts the file accordingly.

The second great benefit is that the majority of their songs come in 'multitrack' format. This means the track is split down into its constituent elements - e.g. drums, bass, guitars, strings, etc etc - and in the program itself you can break the track down and introduce the drums first, then add the bass, then the guitars. So you can create your own mixes very quickly and intuitively to help build dramatic emphasis.

If you only want a few tracks then one of the royalty free sites is probably your best bet. If you envisage doing it on a regular basis then check Sonicfire out - there's a free 21 demo to download so you can try before you buy.

If you want a site where you can get pre-licensed music then check-out animoto.com they offer a pro account with a $249 /year fee or $39/month or you can settle for a free account and still enjoy the free music, only you have to settle with a 30 second video.

The effects and music transition combined with the slides are really majestic, I am sure you'll love it. Transferring the video from animoto to youtube is a real breeze too.

One of the biggest mistakes so many make is to "Not Read" the terms of these so called Royalty free music companies, often they have so many " things you Cannot do " with the music that you might as well just pay for the privileged of downloading the song then never being able to legally use it,

Of course the chances of getting dinged, are say one in one thousand, but I would not want to be that one person that got sued.

For example did you know that even if someone sells you music they claim they have the right to sell, if they do not have that right you can and still will be responsible for any damages due the actual person that owns the music.

Take for example some places, like trade bit, (allegedly) you can find all kinds of music, but much of it does not even belong to the folks that are selling it, (again allegedly) disclaimer,)

The key is to know with whom you are doing business, if the price is so cheap that it sounds too good to be true well guess what, that still does not excuse you from getting sued.

Even some of the big names, have license terms like you can only use it for up to 5 thousands times and after that you have to buy another license.

Now for the most part you will never have an issue, but what if you use it for a you tube video and Baam, you get 200 thousand hits, well you could be liable for buying enough licenses to cover that amount of exposure, and if you think that this is not normal, just have a look at many of the media buy out, clauses, on these websites, some of which have been mentioned here on this thread.

It is there in the license terms but most people don't bother to read them.

All I am saying here is you should take the time to read the terms of use because some of these music companies have some really restrictive terms which for the most part people do not even know they are agreeing to.

Just be careful, most of us don't have anything to worry over, but one in one thousand, just make sure your not that one person.
