Do you enjoy your Internet Marketer lifestyle?

Hello Warriors,

Do you enjoy your internet marketing lifestyle of would you rather just work a JOB? I personally LOVE my lifestyle as a internet marketer. Of course it was a long 3 year struggle until I finally got where I wanted to be but it has PAID OFF very well.

How about you? What would you rather do?

I enjoy it for the relative freedom I get. I do a lot of hiking etc. and am active in several exercise classes each week so it works good for me that way.

But there are times when I miss a regular schedule.....

Yeah I love my lifestyle. But like you, it took me years before I finally figured it all out.

There is nothing else out there that allows you to be your own boss wherever you go in the world.

Hey, when you first started online money making career? What were the most obstacles you faced? I'm struggling at article writing, and I do not like PLR articles and re-spin them, do you have any good suggestions?

        Love it.

I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want.

I can decide to leave for a vacation any day. I don't need to book my vacations with my boss 6 months in advance. And to top it off, I'm still making money when I'm drinking that Pina-Colada on a beach in Panama.

I actually never had a job. Never did an interview. Never wrote a resume (except in college for a "communications" class ... never used it). There is no other choice for me, I can't see myself having a boss.

It can't be any other way, I AM THE BOSS

I am not full time yet, and there are days I work my websites, writing articles, working on creating traffic etc for 14hrs a day.
I can't speak for anyone else, however, freedom is the reason I love IM.
After working as a mechanic for Sears for 30 years and not being able to take off when I needed it was a miserable thing. I missed many family get together s, lost money if I had to take off to go see my children and grandchildren in the hospital...
Man, I missed so much good times with my family, friends and the ones I love.
I will never go back to that kind of existence....
IM has been my road to freedom.
          To Infinity and Beyond.

I don't like it I LOVE it. Being 24 I realized after working a boring job for 3 years that I didn't enjoy the lifestyle. It was like a ball and chain to me. After breaking out on my own earning sometimes more in a month than I did the entire year working LESS really intrigued me to take it full time.

My biggest problem is the social (or lack thereof) aspect of it.

I have a hell of a time finding anyone to do anything with on my off time, so I generally end up staring at a computer for more time than I'd like.

Other than that, I pretty much do what i want, when I want.. and life is pretty good.

      Enjoy it?

It's not a question about it. Even when I wasn't making
money I prefered the lifestyle over getting a paycheck
and punching in someone elses clock.

It's been months since I've had to go through this thing
called "rush hour", and the freedom I have to go out and
get ice cream, flirt with beautiful women, start my guitar
lessons again...and soon picking up my BMW convertible.

Suddenly, I can do alot of things I couldn't do even when
I had a job like go tatem sky-diving, or dune buggy racing,
etc...because I don't answer to no one, and I run the
      show of my life.

I have complete control over any given time how much
money I make or don't make, and unlike a job -- I choose
who I want to work with, befriend, or work beside any
      given time.

      So do I enjoy it?

When people ask me what it's like or how it' feels, I get
      goosebumps...and it's always a challenge to explain a
feeling they have never felt before.

So I simply tell them this...

It's more than an enjoyable experience, it's a very spiritual
      and heavenly existence.

Not quite there yet, but based on what I've read it will be a dream come true. Once I get there I will thoroughly enjoy not punching a time card anymore or having to get up and rush to get ready for work. I can just get up and get the kids off to school and go back to bed.

Once I am well established I thought about taking some fun classes of things I enjoy. For example: I've wanted to learn to play piano and guitar, take some sewing classes, maybe learn a foreign language....lots of things I can do when I am on my own schedule.

a JOB as internet marketers love to spout

really is not bad if you enjoy what you do.

Internet marketing is not the solution to the swear word JOB in fact internet marketing in itself is a JOB ( i know many will want to jump all over that as they wont want to admit they left a job for a job but it really is ) Sure there are perks such as .... getting out of bed when you wish, going to bed when you wish, going on holiday more often and working less hours at times

But it still requires getting your ass in gear, focusing and knuckling down and doing some work.

so the way I look at it is ....

Whatever you put your hand to in this life to bring in income.. if you enjoy it.. it dont matter if its 4hrs a day, or 14hrs a day your working.

While I do love the freedom it affords me, it also makes me want to smash my head against the wall now and then because it's so lonely. I'm a people person, so I've had times when I've really struggled with this stuff, wanting to give up because I honestly thought I couldn't keep up working all by myself year after year. My productivity has been greatly sabotaged at times by me just leaving the house when I really should have been be working, just to get out and meet real people. I still do that a bit.

I'm here, though, doing better than ever businesswise, so I'm quite happy, but I do think my situation could be improved. I've been toying with the idea of setting up an office together with other internet marketers in a low cost tropical country (I love travelling and Malaysia, Thailand and Brazil are all places that I'd like to spend a lot more time in even though I've been to those places heaps already) to make this stuff a bit more social, and would have probably started working on that already had it not been for the fact that I also have a small home music studio which I don't want to leave for too long as I'm heavily into music making at the moment (which, unfortunately, is also a bit of a lonely thing for me, bleh...). Part of the reason for me signing up to this forum again was the fact that I wanted to meet people who'd be interested in doing something like that. I'll probably make a thread about it here at some point after summer or something, so we'll see what happens...

I can definitely relate to that. IM is not all roses.

I've just moved somewhere new, and it's ridiculously hard to meet people and establish some kind of a social circle without a regular 9-5 job. Maybe some of you can relate?

It's also a huge struggle to establish yourself in the beginning - worth it in the end, of course, but it can actually be quite demoralizing, even, failing again and again until finally something clicks and your luck turns around (or your skill develops).

Sorry to bring the mood down! I agree with everyone here. But, as with everything, there are downsides and sacrifices to be made.

I used to run a mail-order company on my own from home and while I wouldn't say it was lonely because there was always so much to do, it was definitely very solitary. That's one thing you can miss out on being self-employed; the camaraderie and social aspect of working with lots of other people in an office. Which is probably the reason there are so many JV's and networking events between established marketers. It's that much easier to create something bigger than one person could hope to do on their own.

I like your idea of getting together with other internet marketers. Once I am on a roll I'd be well up for something of this nature. You could have an Internet Marketers Retreat, a sort of informal working holiday somewhere exotic where anyone is welcome to come along with all their gear, laptops etc, setup a LAN and exchange ideas and work on projects and help each other. Could be a great way of brain-storming ideas too and even do launches.

Could be a great way of brain-storming ideas too and even do launches.
Yikes. I believe in morphic resonance now -- a while ago, I had pretty much exactly the same kind of idea about a tropical working retreat for writers. Drop me a line sometime, I'd be most interested to talk about this.

I LOVE the IM lifestyle. Went to college, got a J-O-B and hated every minute of it. I was born to be my own boss and have been for almost 2 years now. I will never go back.

If by "Internet Lifestyle" you mean having the freedom to work from home then yeah I like it just fine thank you very much. But my lifestyle online includes tons and tons of work. Which I enjoy as well.

What's not to like. I guess you if would not like waking up when you want, being able to go where you want when you want, not suffering through a recession, being there for your kids all the time (if you have kids), just the other day, my mother got into a car accident, she call me and I was there within minutes. Not if you had a job and had to answer to someone, you would have to ask your boss, and maybe you could go, maybe you couldn't.

I certainly don't like answering to anyone. The freedom you can have by being your own boss it priceless. Internet marketing gives me the lifestyle I love. So Yes I love Internet Marketing.

I would rather be an Internet Marketer then to work on a 9-5 job. But if the big bucks don't start rolling in. I will have to find a job.

I love it for the freedom. But I did like that daily interaction with people at work, because I'm a people person. All my best friends and relationships came from having a job.

I actually met my wife at work :-)

I don't get that much interaction now so I usually have to force myself to go do networking to get it in.

Definitely love the IM lifestyle. When I first started I had problems working late nights and long hours, but I've learned to manage my time and energy well so that I'm much more productive. I can find time to actually interact with others and enjoy what other nice things life has to offer

Except I don't get to network with friends as often as I'd like to, everything else is great, as you get to make decisions and that's what I love most: freedom.

I am a high school PE teacher, doesn't get much easier than that right... and I love my job and the people that I work with and most of the kids, but I don't want to have to rely on my job, I am making it so I can walk away any time I want, the extra cash also makes those summers off a lot more fun.

That sounds like a cool job especially if you love the kids. Extra money working on the internet is ALWAYS cool. Good luck to you.

I doubt that IM will ever come close to paying as well as the offline opportunities I passed up to get into this but the potential freedom in this business makes it more than worth it.
      FREEDOM!

Well I wouldn't say 100% automated but you can automate some stuff. Like for example, profits! That's what a membership does for you, it automates profits. But you still have to get the content for the membership.

So yeah, pretty hard to get 100% automated...

Lifestyle? Of course. I went out and got a new MacBook Pro today, feels nice to walk into the store and not have to worry about money. I paid my rent upfront for a year too live in a nice apartment. Will post pics if anyone needs proofs.

It's great being able to work when you want, move wherever you want at anytime, and still have a flowing business without missing a beat. That to me is the best part about having an internet business. Of course discipline plays a huge role in being successful, but that's about the only obstacle. if I get lonely from not having any co-workers I just go to the gym, shoot a round of golf, or hit the mall and shop til I drop.

I love my lifestyle! Here are 5 reasons I can think of right off the top of my head:

    1. Slept until 9:30 this morning instead of getting up at 5 or 6 to go to a regular job.

    2. It's Masters week for us golf fans, so I will not be working Thursday or Friday.

    3. I am going to the golf course with my fiancee in a few hours.

    4. I have an eye infection today, and instead of being miserable all day I was able to go get some medicated drops, and not have to worry about my boss hassling me for leaving work.

    5. I am building MY BUSINESS, and not making someone else rich!

mlord10, you have done something that is way harder to do than IM, and that's getting a fiancee that enjoys golf

Put it this way. I would not swap my IM lifestyle for a 'normal' job! Having the freedom is the best option ever. The only thing I can say bad, is, that all my friends are working when I am free, lol !

You mean you don't work on your IM business? Everything is automated and you're just getting hundreds of dollars in your Paypal account while laying around doing whatever you like? Super cool! Very inspiring I must say, isha.

Yep its truly awesome, just about to set off for Heathrow actually to leave for Thailand on another IM excursion.

One thing I would say to all is try your best to strike that balance with the social aspect of things and meet other im'ers. Also never stop studying and learning new things about whatever area it is you're involved in!

It is not all it is cracked up to be. The sales letters with pictures of beaches are great but the reality of sitting all day in front of the computer getting backlinks or writing dull articles can be a killer.

While I haven't reached the goals I've wanted to in IM just yet, I will sure as hell love it when I do. I have made money online and to be able to make more than my mom and stepdad combined would give me the ultimate amount of satisfaction.

I'm close. I can see it happening this year.
