I've been using Squidoo for a while now, but haven't yet ventured into Hubpages. I was looking at Alexa ratings for both sites recently, and Hubpages has similar traffic (some days more) than Squidoo.

So, I was wondering...

Which one is better? For affiliate marketing? For promoting your own products or services? For earning money from Adsense?

Also, are there any good guides on Hubpages that you would recommend?

Thanks!

Why not use both and link each with the other? By doing this and linking to your blogs, articles, etc. you can generate some pretty good "link juice".

I love Hubpages myself, but they aren't as generous with letting you use links and you can't be overly promotional. A few months ago I built a Hubpage that included 3 links to my website (not affiliate links), and they unpublished it until I changed it a litte. So, you aren't as free to do whatever you want like you can with Squidoo.

I still like them, though. Build a Hub, submit it to Digg and other bookmarking sites, and ping it. You can get some really good traffic!

    Just my thoughts.

I agree. I use both and also like HubPages better. Great advice.

    Thank you both.

Regarding "over-promotional"... I created my first hub today and included just 1 link back to my blog and got the "over-promotional" warning. Just wondering if that warning is automatically issued on each hub when you include any links? Do I really have to worry about a hub being unpublished for just one link to my blog? Thks...

I have been including only 1 link in the "text" sections of my hubs without any problems. I usually start out with about 3 text sections, then add a "links" module where you can link to your articles, blogs, etc.

If you're only using 1 link to your blog or site, you should be okay. If not, I'm sure they will tell you what needs to be fixed.

They both are at the top when it comes to promoting your site or product. i would use both of those. Plus they both are free so why not use them.

I find Squidoo to have many more features and freedom when creating your page. But Hubpages tend to rank better in the search engines. I recommend doing both.

i prefer to use both. yes Hubpages is a little more strict, but you just need to know how to use it correctly.

the way you market on Squidoo is not going to be the way that you market on Hubpages.

My Hubs seemed to get ranked faster than Squidoo on some occassions as well.

I personally like squidoo better. You're not limited to the links you can include; hubpages allows you to put only up to 2 links using the same domain.

There's no question that the search engines love both squidoo and hubpages though.

You must use only one link back to your site or blog. Hubpages is rather strict when it comes to links while in Squidoo, you can make around 3 links in a post.

I have never really liked hub pages and tend to use Squidoo but I know a number of people that have had great success with hub pages.
