Anyone in the Dog Niche Making Money?

My aunt's getting online.

The other day she almost fell for one of those CPA continuity stacking deals for some junk product... fake testimonials, no sign of continuity but in the Privacy Policy... surely connected with a crappy call center pitching $10k coaching that teaches the basics...

She knows a whole lot about dogs.

She only wants to do an extra $250-$300 a week, so I told her go with some Article Marketing since she wouldn't need a website or anything.

I'm trying to find her a good continuity program to promote in her sig... one that converts well, pays at least $20 per month commissions and is in the dog niche.

Anyone know of any continuity programs like this?

And/Or... any high dollar dog training courses that convert well?

I think that I saw something like that on clickbank but I'm not sure.

I'd say go to clickbank's advanced search and find products with recurring commissions in the dog niche. I think you will find something good.

I'm a dog trainer and I've got a membership website in my signature. I'm actually in the middle of overhauling everything (hired a video guy to follow me around as I work with dog training clients) and I believe that it's going to help me get to a much higher revenue per customer. Currently the site does well and the affiliates that I have seem to do well when they promote it, up to a 5% response with some affiliates.

Feel free to email with any questions- communicanineutah@yahoo.com

The problem is Jason, how many dog owner/lovers would pay $40/month recurring?

US spent something like $45 billion dollars on their pets in 2009.

The vast majority of that was spend on physical products, not info products.

Also, that includes necessities... like food, pet medication, and veterinarian visits (shots, care, etc).

That's true... point is though... people spend serious money on their pets.

You're right, its a good market (I'm in it) but as for recurring affiliate commissions of $20 or more, its unlikely, the majority dog training products I promote are around $40 and they more or less cover EVERYTHING, as for clickbank, I've looked for recurring commission dog training products, but couldn't find anything with a high gravity, but the max commission I'd expect as an affiliate is around $15/month

          Cool.

I wonder why no one is positioning themselves as the Rolls Royce of dog trainers with online membership sites and charging more.

This is what I'm in the process of doing right now. I've done it in the offline world where I'm about the most expensive dog training company in my state and some of the surrounding states as well. Even considering the high price tag I am extremely busy and people send their dogs to me from around the country and I've been personally flown around the world at very high day rates to help people with their dogs. I'm now in the process of 'niche-ing' my content to get a much higher lifetime value from my online customers.

Someone with an aggression problem or a destruction problem is willing to spend. I'm going to have to find the right price points, though, because there reaches a point where someone is going to see a price tag on an info product and a price tag for a private trainer as being too similar and choose the one on one trainer.

              Awesome

Sounds like I found the right continuity program for my aunt. Thanks for dropping a line in this thread.

I think you'll be able to pull it off with the right value building...

If she is a writer, have her write an ebook or two on a subject and set her up on Clickbank as an author. You'll need to help her with the sales page and technical stuff, but once its up she could link to it in her signature and make some money with affiliates promoting her.

She's not trying to make a small fortune or anything. I'd rather set her up with something that's already well tested... so if you send say 100 clicks, you know exactly how much money you'll make.

If she were trying to grow a real business, I would definitely guide her to have her own product.

I would offer the same product, but build enough perceived value for it in the sales copy or video.

If you think of the true value of, say, some dog training tactic that solves your dog's problem of peeing in the house... what's that REALLY worth?

It's worth not ruining your $5000 sofa.

It's worth your kid not slipping in dog pee.

It might even be worth the invaluable price of NOT having to get rid of your beloved dog.

Don't you think they'd pay a mere $50 just for that 1 proven tactic?

If you could convince this prospect in your sales message that it will solve their problem, then you might even be able to charge $100 per month.

After all, don't pet trainers charge over $1000 to come to your home to train your pet?

Here's an example of your value building in your sales message: "It costs $1000+ for a pet trainer to come to your home and show you this. You're going to be able to train your dog yourself with this simple 3 step tactic and it's only going to be a fraction of the cost. Just $50. All the pet trainer would do is show you how to reinforce it to your dog over and over... why not save $950 and join my award winning dog training club?"

      ...

Some say... Undervaluing your product is the #1 mistake of businesses online.

I'm already have success promoting PetCareRX pet supplies, if you google it, you'll know they are well known company.

The payout was $34.00 USD, I already made 3 leads yesterday. Not a whole lot, but good enough to supplement extra income.

I do pretty good selling dog products in general from my dog sites (you know like collars, dog beds etc...).

But I've never really had any luck selling clickbank products.

Had a little bit of luck selling some PLR ebooks.

I'll definitely be looking into Ty's dog training continuity which sounds great and it really sounds like he's serious about making it have value for the customer so something I'd like to promote.

Instead of seeking out Dog Training sites which are recurring, you may want to seek Dog Supplies which are recurring orders with affiliate programs.

Doing a quick Google Search produced this one: Recurring Order Information FAQ

I'm sure there are many such programs in Pet Food, Pet Medical Supplies, etc...

There is a problem or flaw in your arguement about the value to a dog owner in getting to know how to stop a dog either chewing, wetting, or whatever in the home. The information is of value to them while they have the problem, but as soon as the problem is solved, the value is non-existent. No one will continue
to pay anything ona regular monthly basis for a membership to solve problems of that nature, because they are not long term problems.

But dogs have to be fed repeatedly, and that is where the recurring income is
    in the dog market.

Yes but you can continuously train dogs to do new things, and there are people out there who WILL pay on a continuous basis to use sites like that as a reference for training their dogs. There is NO problem or FLAW in this argument.

... on a complete tangent it's a good thread for newbies looking to learn from an experienced affiliate marketer and product creator.

Problem: Need money and ? have limited time or technical experience.
Solution: Use articles (limited skills necessary) and send traffic to one high converting offer.

Make sure the offer pays out well (ie. it's easier to get 5 sales with $50 commissions that 20 sales at $10 commissions) or ideally something that has a continuity program.

Sell once .. get paid for several months.

Good thread ... I'm off to hurt myself and do some thinking!

Haven't read the other posts in this thread, so don't flame if something along these lines have been said

I run a Dog niche site, it gets between 1-1.5k a month from search engines.

Not too sure whether it's the particular niche I am in, but I haven't had sales with eBay, Amazon or Clickbank.

I've started trying Prosperent, just seeing how that goes.

Not recommending against the idea, but I can't honestly recommend it as a money earner - I like running the site and have done so for a while now because I love dogs.
