Hey everyone....

I just backordered (and won) a domain with a PR of 2 and good Alexa ranking. After I just transferred everything right now though, I realized that Google RESET EVERYTHING. The page lost its PR and Alexa ranking.

The only thing that remained are the backlinks

Anyone else encounter this program? And is there any way around it?

Thanks.

Diana

Google only just updated pagerank over the past couple of days so it would be related to that rather than the fact that you just transferred everything over.

Just keep working on the site and you will hopefully see a pagerank whenever Google decides to update again.

Google DO sometimes reset PR when a site change nameservers and owner at the same time, as well as content.

Dont worry about it too much. just get some content back on the site and you should start seeing organic traffic there. I bought a domain with similar rankings and put an auto feed blog up and within a week I was seeing about 150 visitors a day.

First of all, Google doesn't have anything to do with Alexa, not that Alexa ranking matters for anything.

When a site goes offline or parked this changes the content of the site and Google then reevaluates it. This usually will cause a loss of PR and, sometimes, deindexing of pages or the entire site. Google doesn't seem to algorithmically track domain registration though, since they don't remove penalties from deleted domains, even after a few years.

To get back the PR and get the existing links to be counted again, get a new site up and running relatively quick, do 301 redirects from any old indexed pages or incoming links to the index page of the domain and ping and/or bookmark pages with links to your new domain. This will usually result in the domain recovering its old ranking within a short period of time and toolbar PR a little later. For example, one PR0 domain I bought a couple of months ago in a GoDaddy closeout sale is now back up to PR4, simply from using this technique.

WOW! You mean GOOGLE and ALEXA didn't fall for it!?!?!? NOBODY infringed on copyright, etc?!?!?!? INCREDIBLE!(sarc) BTW the longer it takes to get something up that is SIMILAR, the more likely it is that the BACKLINKS will disappear ALSO!

90% of what you specified relates to the CONTENT! The rest was caused, and maintained, by the CONTENT! International treaty, and US federal law, FORBIDS copying content, and that is lost the MOMENT the domain expires! EVENTUALLY, alexa, google, and other sites realize the content is gone, and are likely to RESET things! LATER, OTHERS realize, and backlinks will disappear to a degree.
