How to document the products you have sold with statistics and graphs?

Hi,
I am wondering how you guys document product sales and view the statistics compared with previous month sales with graphs.

I am currently selling over paypal and I am wondering if there is any automatic solution to this. So if I make a sale that the sale automatically goes into a table and the graph for the current month is changing.

The only way that comes into my mind documenting product sale would be with MS Excel - but I did not find any template yet that would make using it easy. And I think it wont go automatically.

You could use Google analytics and set up goals so when a product gets sold it registers and then it will provide graphs and stats.

A goal is say when you sell a product on page "A" they go to paypal and then return to page "B". By adding the script on page "A" and The on page "B" analytics can then tell there has been a successful sale.

Yes you can and should do this for all your products and it will tell you which page it came from and obviously the page it ends up on distinguishes the sale.

Do you know any tutorial on how to do this?
I have found a tutorial here: Google Analytics E-Commerce Tracking for Paypal
but it uses a cgi script on the server and seems a bit complex.

I have also read that Google Analytics fails to track about 25% of the sales - reason unknown.
