Expired domains just get re-released back into the domain pool. There is no special place to purchase them, you just need to search normally and you will find them if they are free. You can also place a back-order on a domain to snatch it up if it is not renewed, but this usually costs slightly more.

I like auctions.godaddy.com. It cost $5 a year. All the domains expiring from godaddy and other registrars who use godaddy's interface end up on there, so you can bid on or purchase them. Most domainer's use snapnames.com, pool.com, and namejet.com to backorder their domains.

GoDaddy Auctions is a good choice. At ExpiredDomains.org you can find more information on expiring domains like PageRank, Alexa rank and much more.

I happen to like GoDaddy Auctions site too. Particularly for the way it;s organized.
The whole process there is pretty simple. I don;t see where you would need more than one place to get all the expired info.

  • I just did a search for "expired domains" on Google and came across several sites that sell expired domains and also domains with page rank. Buying an old expired domain with PR is one of the best things that you can do, if you want to rank higher in the search engines and do less work.

This is because Google is always going to prefer a page with page rank as compared to one without PR. Yes you will be paying a little bit more $$ than usual, but the fact that you're going to rank up higher because you have a domain with "age" and also "page rank" makes the expense worth it in my humble opinion.

The domains age will eventually reset back to zero once it's expired. And the PR may also disappear if there were a lot of internal pages with backlinks.

Whilst these are not necessarily expired domains there is a clever trick to find unused domains.

For expired domains I find Godaddy to be a good place to buy them.
