How often do i need to update my site?

Im setting a site on wordpress with lets say around 5 pages for deep linking to, and I want to keep my main page updated with original content on a regular basis to keep customers coming back.

My question is how often should i post unique 300 word blog posts on my site, and is there any SEO benefit to this? Also, at what point is it ok for me to stop posting content and just let my site be and make me money so I can focus on other projects?

You'll probably get a hundred different answers to this question, but posting every 2-3 days is what works for me.

I get good results by making a new post weekly. Good luck!

I would agree that you have to post at least once per week. I wouldn't stop doing that and "just leave it be" because you might lose all of the repeat customers it took so long to acquire. Besides, how much time does it take to write an article once per week. You could even open it up to guest bloggers and you won't have to write for it again. I wouldn't let it go dormant though.

Whatever you pick---2-3 days or once per week--be consistent. I have been so happy when I found sites that were posting either every day or 2-3 days. I would check them every day. It was like opening a new present every day. One example was the solar taxi that circled the globe. Then, when they arrived back home, they forgot about the fans that had cheered them on. It was such a letdown.

To clarify this, I did some research on that solar taxi site about 2 years ago and you would have been amazed at all the backlinks. Basically they let all that link juice drain out. They could have at least kept us informed of the next solar taxi that was being built or the next solar project they were into developing. But no, the site is dormant the last I checked. So again, decide on the rate of your posts and ...be consistent... or try to be.

There are many views but I agree minimum of 2 a week - 3 would be better but make the content interesting to get people to keep coming back. Remember a blog is web log or a journal or diary. The more interesting way you can get your information across the more people will visit.

Remember it is some times fun to finish you blog with a bit of a cliff hanger. Something along the lines....Oh I must tell you about (whatever) but I have to rush - it will have to wait till Thursday...

It really depends on the subject how you finish the blog but always try and plant a seed of interest that will bring them back over and over again.
