For Offline clients are affliate networks our competitors?

I have an offline client meeting coming up, and of course as an internet marketer our job is to drive more leads/sales to our client.

I was thinking about having them join an affiliate program so they could get more leads on top of all the SEO, PPC, Online Advertising work I will do for them.

however essentially an affiliate network is an internet marketing company too and they have to pay the joining and monthly fees for the affiliate network to actively promote them to their affiliates, cus without that not many affiliates may promote it.

Joining fee is fine but the network monthly fee on top of mine means the client has to pay more. Also they may start to like the Network instead of me thus I can loose the client to them.

I want to drive more leads to this client but is an affiliate network a good idea?

I wouldn't do it the way you're thinking. If you're planning on letting anybody else do the work - charge your client extra and you pay the bill. As long as he still pays you, keep the service paid in full. If the client backs out at any point, cancel the service.

You should be the person who makes all their worries go away. They shouldn't have to worry about doing a thing when you're around (IM-wise) and that includes paying multiple people for internet marketing bills.

I'm not sure how you have your leads campaigns set up, but for my leads clients, I sell them leads at a retail rate, on a per lead basis. Then, I personally sign up as an advertiser and pay my affiliates $X per lead to send it to my leads page. Then, I collect the margin.

If you're doing this as a package monthly fee or something, I suppose you could just up your fee a little for maintenance, and then pay whatever fee's your network is charging you.
