Can someone please help me???

Hi Members

My problem is a few months ago I made a music website for my kids and there friends to get free music for there mp3 players its just a glorified portal but anyway, I have added movies,TV,radio and lyrics since and now its the talk around town and getting traffic from everywhere. I need some ideas how to make money because what I'm doing now is not working at all. I have sold a few so it will make money. I'm a good programmer but thats it I need a expert marketer to the rescue I have no problem sharing the wealth.JonesTunes

      Hi BigAlex,

      Brace yourself as this could take some time. Anyway, here is my suggestion and the main highlight is to BUILD A LIST (I actually practice this too and it works)

      You obviously know your stuff so in addition to what Mark said...

      - Write articles on what you are offering. The article directories allow you a 'Resource Box' that contains a link to your website.

      - You should give some space on your landing page for a lead capture form. It is a form that allows you to collect the names and addresses of your interested readers who click through to your website from your article resource box.

      - Put up a squeeze page and on it offer something for free - mp3, DVD, CD or an ebook, (I have found that a simple but informative 12-15 page book you have written on your music will suffice or if someone in your niche has a good book that allows you use then do so)

      - Sign up to a list management service - It's Aweber for my money. This allows you to send out emails to those who join your list to receive the free product.

      - Inside your emails can be tips, info about your newsletter, affiliate product recommendations and of course your own products.

      The money is in the follow up but it will not happen smoothly if you are not building a list of your own.

      I have been to your website and I see you have quite a lot on your landing page (the first page your visitor gets to when they arrive at your website and you are not building a list.

      I think you should build a list as soon as possible otherwise you are losing the traffic arriving at your website. You really want to capture this traffic and follow them up (I know I am repeating myself here but...)

      There is more to say but I do not want to bore,overwhelm or confuse you.

    One option would be to capture your visitors with an optin. For example, offer a free ebook guide on "Making the most of your media" or something catchy. Promise to give them updates on the media scene and links to great resources and then set up an Aweber autoresponder series for them after delivering the ebook.

      This is a great example of how I thought this site was to help others. You will notice that Mark, offered this suggestion with no affiliate links. Just a helpful answer to a person with a question.

    go find some clickbank products relevant to your niche!

    Maybe signup for one of those music membership affiliate sites or you could go guitar music, maybe push the 'legal' side of music downloads???

    push posters or celeb products etc?
    put your niche into clickbank or comission junction and see what comes up!

    Check Free Software Downloads and Reviews - Download.com , www.tucows.com for some relevant software that have affiliate programs.

    There's a few other software affiliate services, but I can't think of their names right now...Live regsoft(?) shareit(?) and more...Maybe those with better brains can help with the names.

    If you find something that sells, create your own program...

    Join the itunes affiliate program, and you could also see what products amazon.com has that should be of interest, such as mp3 players, ipod accessories, etc.

    may the place to start is to do some online research and see who your competitors are, how well ranked they are.
    And try to figure out who is visiting your site.
    It could be tons a little kids who have no credit card to send money with.
    So yes........do some research.

      I agree totally - if your visitors are kids they don't have money, they aren't interested in a newsletter, they dont wanna read, they dont own a credit card, they never check their emails - they just wanna download free stuff.

      Find out who your visitors are - then you know what to sell them.

      If its kids, it'll be things that flash, sparkle, move, make noise - so all thay annoying advertising that gets in your face that us adults hate - that's the stuff for kids.

      And you can break it down even further, cause different age kids like different stuff.

      Look at the stuff offered for myspace profiles, facebook profiles, all the pimp my social networking space kinda stuff.

      Please don't go the path of the sms competition stuff that just drains the parents pockets everytime junior thinks they're gonna win an ipod just by texting some crap - that's just mean!

      If it's adults then you go the route of the mailing list etc etc etc...

      Remember, I'm a newbie so I may not know what I'm talking about, but I do know kids - mine drive me nuts with the shit they leave all over my computer.

    I took a look at your site, and I have to agree with the above comments.

    Also, and please don't take this the wrong way, but I think the overall look and feel of your site needs some work.

    Your navigation to me is odd and it is going to be hard to get people to buy anything from a site that doesn't look Legit. I think your main page should look more like the page you linked to your "My Phone" button.

    Also, You are trying to make money off of selling CDs and such, but then you have Adsense and other affiliate programs to take people away from your site once you get them there.

    Maybe try to advertise a little less obviously, that may help too.

    You should try something like Build a Niche Store (BANS) buildanichestore.com if you want to make money off of the ebay partner network. This will also let you add Amazon products and more.

    Then do your keyword research and optimize your individual pages (keywords/links/KWD/etc).

    I could go on but I don't want to bore you to death.

    Keep up the hard work and never give up up...You'll get there my friend

    One thing I'm not totally clear on is this: does this site still attract mostly kids?

    If so, then monetizing is going to be pretty tough. Contextual ads are probably your best bet, because kids don't need money to click on them, and you still make a few bucks.

    But what did concern me is....

    You must find out who your visitors are ..or you will be wasting your time and money......

    If your visitors are a bunch of broke freebie searching teenagers you won't make any money,and you will be flushing money down the toliet....

    Target your subscribers.....and find out if they have disposable income...and what they want to buy..and you will make money.

    ringtomes and adsense but you're going to need backlinks to get traffic.
    Try some articles and a blog. Submit to directories. Try setting up a myspace and build friends, wait until you have a thousand friends then introduce your site to them all at once.
    Blog comments , social bookmarks.

    You need links and traffic.

    But I really see that you have put a HARD Work into your site.

    You have so much there! I really like it! I love your U2 videos.....great content!

    I am sure there is should be the way of making this site profitable. It is really good!
