Cross-Site Canonical URLs

I am asking here because I want to hear any feedback and/or experience doing this.

Can I use a canonical header tag to point to a page on a completely different domain? If so, has anyone found proof that it works?

Thanks,
Allen

    Hi Allen.

Yes - you can do this cross domain [Where can = "google says you can" ......]

I did this the other day myself but im still waiting for anything meaningful to come out of it; it might be too early for me to say anything else at this point. To be honest I was hoping this might be visible from GWT or such but i think i'll need to dig further.

(Would 'fetch as googlebot' show this in GWT? I dont have access until I get home but will take another look then)

Eight bytes walk into a bar. The bartender asks, “Can I get you anything?”
“Yeah,” reply the bytes. “Make us a double.”

Ah - fetch is a good idea. But I haven't added the tags yet. LOL

Let me know, if you would.

    Thanks, Luke,

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!
