Link building and SEO will never be outdated, so I would search these forums for some good info!

I would concentrate on quality and fresh content. Drive some good traffic through SEO and you'l be golden!

As isha has said, link building and SEO are great ways to get traffic.

Stuff like link wheels, which can include unique content being submitted to Hubpages, Squidoo, Blogspot, Zimbio, etc.

Creating unique, interesting and keyword targeted articles with personalty can mean the difference between someone using your site; and that same person leaving and finding another site that grabs their attention.

Depending on your store, PPC may not work; you can always try PPV networks as well, experimenting with different things is always good as you get a good indication of what works and what doesn't.

using adword for a beginner has never been my good advice anyway

if you are looking for better ways to drive traffic to your site there are several ways[free] you can achieve this all you need to do right now is check out some of our recent post/thread and you will be soaked up with the amount of info available to help you start off

If you are up for getting free traffic, you could do article marketing or social networking sites. Submitting a few articles to Ezine Articles, Squidoo, and Hubpages will help get backlinks.

Welcome to the forum. This place is great and you can get a wealth of knowledge here.

But to explain everything about link building and traffic generation would be a bit much for just this one thread. I would recomend spending some time everyday jus tto read throught different threads in the forum. Almost anything you might need has already been asked.

Now I know that this will take some time so I would suggest you write a few keyword targeted articles and put them up on EzineArticles.com and create a squidoo lens or two. This will help you get some traffic now plus they are great sources for links.

Welcome to the Forum! You'll want to focus on Off-Page SEO.
Stick to one link-building method and strive to do at least 50 to 100 links per month using ONLY that method.
Try to get links back to as many pages as you can within your website. Don't simply focus your links on the homepage.

I would suggest you try press release submission for promotion and blog commenting for link building.

Take your time here seriously as the majority of us do and you will get far. On page SEO requires an assortment of techniques to be implemented on your site in order to make it search engine friendly. Some of these are: 1. Keyword and phrase optimization and placement. 2. H1 and H2 optimization with keywords 3. Meta Tags, 4. High quality and original content

Off page optimization is the process by which you develop backlinks:
1- Forum posting
2- Blog Commenting
3- Article writing and submission - your articles should be of high quality and content rich. There should be a balance between keywords and information. The articles should be well written and conversational. NEVER stuff them with keywords, as Search engines dislike this and will disregard them.
4- Social Bookmarking

You can also develop an advertising campaign, you can use both FREE and paid services. Know the difference between all the different promotional methods. For example someone recommended a traffic exchange, and one thing a lot of people fail to understand is that traffic exchanges achieve more than bringing you traffic, the BRAND your site. Because of the repetitive method of the surf page (where your site gets exposed multiple times during a surf session) your site gets branded. It has been proven time and again that it takes a customer up to 7 times to see an AD before they can identify the product, the brand and even convert into a sale.
