Need advice on selling php scripts

Been searching around the forum re selling software and scripts - not finding too much info.
Been selling books and ebooks online for a while, but had this idea for a piece of software that I think many would find useful for their business.
I'm not a php programmer (outsourced the actual script) so take it easy on the techie stuff.
Searched around the net, and haven't found anything similar.
If any of you software and script sellers would be so kind to guide me where to get started:
Should I sell as shareware then cripple after xx days and is there something you use to accomplish crippling?
Should I use RegNow or something similar?
Any advise or links you can point me to are appreciated.
