Is Analytics Good or Bad?

I am being told by several marketers that it is not good to list you website with google analytics. They say google will use the information to affect your rankings. If they don't like the bounce rate, or other data, they will punish you for it. Is this true?

I have about 50 blogs for low competition niches, and have always put them in analytics, and a lot of my sites don't perform like I think they should. Could this be the reason?

    I'd sure like to see the data supporting that using Analytics is bad. I don't work for Google so I couldn't say for sure, but if you've got someone who has done some actual statistical analysis instead of just anecdotal evidence, I'd love to read it. (Personally, I haven't seen it effecting anything negatively, but I haven't done any testing, either).

    Yea, please don't believe that rubbish. There is nothing wrong with using Google Analytics. But if they've got you shook about using it, you can still get the same information from your cPanel hosting from AwStats.

    We can't know for sure, but personally i've found google analytics to be a great addition to my offline business. It gives my clients a format to read stats that makes a lot of sense to the common internet user. I love how it measures how long people are at individual pages, that along with other features helps business owners feel like they understand more about their website.
