Default Do you know how long visitors stay at your blog?

Hey gang,

been using the new analytic tool on my blog called Woopra Analytics
and just checkin some stats to see how long visitors are staying at my
blog and so far this is kinda cool.

1) 20+ minutes - 213 hits/this month
2) 5 to 10 minutes - 148 hits/this month
3) 10 to 20 minutes - 118 hits/this month

Another interesting stats:

Visitors Browsers:

Firefox 3 - 543 hits/this month
Explorer 6 - 155 hits/this month
Firefox 2 - 98 hits/this month

What are your stats like or does it matter?

It matters because if they stay long enough then they might take action and turn a conversion for you, also the longer they stay the better google sees it and can give your blog better rankings in the SEs.

David,

It matters in my opinion. When you have visitors that stay long in your website, they either like your site or they probably started doing some other work keeping the page with your site open. But the latter happens rarely. So your visitors must be liking your site.

This is called stickiness. Your site has good stickiness. To increase it, link to your site/blog inner pages and keep them stay in your blog. Once they stay in your blog for sometime, they might consider buying something or subscribing to your site most probably. The chances of positive action (like mentioned) is more.

When you get visitors from search engine or a quality traffic, the visitors stay for a long time. But if you are getting visitors from social media, they stay for less than a minute unless you have extremely sticky site. Seeing your stats, you must be getting quality traffic and not from social media. If you are getting some traffic from social media, then your numbers would have been more if they hadn't come to your site.

My stats are nowhere near your stats since most of my traffic is from social media. I try my best to make them subscribe to my blog in the less time they stay in my blog.

I agree with Magic Mel, it definitely matters. Like mel said if they stay long they can convert easier. Also if they stay longer they like you more, I think and if they like you more they might turn into return visitors, and they are always nice to have. Do you have something up asking people to comment? I would add that if not.

I started adding more videos from other sources
as well as my own videos and I guess that makes
a lot of difference...

I've been getting more signup to my newsletter
and not promoting the blog much and I'm trying
to open the blog in a way so visitors can add
their comments and win a prize, in all to keep
them there a lot longer.

Hello David

Does it matter?

Not sure?

Can't answer actually.

And the reason is, it depends what you want them to do.

What is your MWR (Most Wanted Response) from those visitors?

And if they don't do your MWR, what do you want them to do as a secondary action? In other words, what's your plan B for them?

When you have a plan for each visitor, all that really matters is how many of your visitors stick to your plan.

And if that's for them to hang around for some reason, then cool.

Cheers,

Neil
