How to Promote my Content Writing Service?

Hi,

I have been working as a professional content writer for the last three years and now I am thinking about starting a content writing service myself.I have almost finished completing the site where I want to promote my service and will soon launch it. But, I am really confused with one thing and that is how to promote it? I have learned about basic SEO techniques (Like article marketing, forum posting or blog comments) but I guess for promoting my service, I need targeted traffic who can turn on to be a potential client for me. May be, some internet marketers, blog owners or SEO services.

The basic tactics may do well for some blogs but I somehow feel these will not be as much effective for a service (I may be wrong though).

Please feel free to share your thoughts and important advices to help me out on this.

Regards.

Check out Nick Brighton's Content Cash Cow.
Check out some of Nathan Segal's posts.

They do not give you a detailed plan but if you
take the information they provide and create a
plan then you can make some serious money.

Now. And far into the future.
Especially if you are a competent writer.

Beleive it or not but less of those exist than you
    imagine. Even among professionals and
    college professors.

I remember reading a post that read, "all content
    producers are wasting their time."

Maybe he is so hostile towards writers because, for the life of him,
he cannot write. Bless his soul.

He is among those who sits there and lets the blank page torture him
until he has no choice but to fill it with puke.

Also, you can find high paying projects; outsource
them to a competent writer, and keep a part of the
    "commission."

You can make a lot from writing.

Actually, you can establish a legitimate business that
provides killer content to companies and bring in six
figures a year without having to write any of it yourself.

And this will only be one business in your stable.

Anyway, I haven't made a dime online. Except for selling
old textbooks and a graphing calculator on Amazon.

And writing a few articles here and there.

So, take my post with a grain of salt or two.

People need to know your service exists, they need to know if you write quality.

Everything else deadlines, communication etc is a given.

How will they know, spend some time dishing your work out for FREE as an introduction. You will be inundated then sell to them. 1 FREE article for every 10/20 ordered perhaps.

If you are emailing your FREE article across include a sales letter.

For SEO backlinks to your site from high PR ranking sites will give your site a boost in Googles eyes. What can you offer the website owner to for him to give you one, copywriting and if you are good, maybe business comes your way.

    Just for starters:

Post your services in the classifieds here, on CraigsList, Kijiji, Twitter, etc. Email major companies within your preferred niche and let them know that you are available. Follow your emails up with a phone call after a few days. Also, solicit local businesses in the same way and visit forums that cater to services within your niche.

Add these ideas to the other magnificent ideas in this thread and you'll be on your way in no time.
Craiglist is an option for me. But, then again the advertisements will be region specific. I want to reach all possible global clients. I never hard of Kijiji, so if you could enlighten it a bit more, that will be helpful. I do not know how to market my business through twitter either. Additionally, it will also be pretty helpful if you can name such forums where I can post my service.

Create you a website with rich keyword content then spy on your competition and then promote it through google. You might need to do some adwords campaigns or with another ppc company!
Thanks to both of you for your ideas. I will keep these in mind.

Second, write articles as many as you can and submit them to article directories. bookmark your sire as well plus the articles that were approved in article directories- you can go here for top social bookmarking sites "socialmarker.com"

When I first started, I got almost all of my clients from WF.

I have since branched out into different areas of writing and marketing - it is amazing what you learn from the Warrior Forum .

Good luck in your new venture.

My basic plan for my writing service has been:

-Make website with samples and testimonials
-Post in Warriors for Hire and get some testimonials and orders
-Bump thread when I don't have work

That alone gets me plenty of work. I'm never lacking in work... in fact, more often than not I am up to my ears in it, which is just how I like it!

If you enjoy writing though, I suggest you look into other options for passive income as well. I do earn plenty writing, but taking time to set up passive income will help you reach your monthly goals with less active time spent. Personally, the mix of active income through writing and passive income from my sites works better than I could have ever imagined.

Actually, I already have a site. But, it needs some design change and I will do it soon. I never ran a thread here in WF, but started some in another big webmaster forum (I think you can guess the name) and got some clients. But, the problem is that those clients are not willing to pay more than pennies. I mean the average rate is around a cent or a little bit more per word, which I feel is very insulting for a writer (I know there are plenty of people who will work for that rate and I don't want to anyway show any kind of disrespect to them). I don't think that's a good rate for me to work.

The perfect mixture of passive income+writing articles should work best for me. Thanks for your advise, it is indeed helpful.
