Any methods that are time tested?

I see a lot of new ebooks talking about how they made thousands in a few days yada yada. They almost always end up being techniques on using loopholes that they exploit while they can until google or whatever seals the loophole and makes the ebook useless. I would like to know if there are a set of rules for internet marketing that doesn't rely on gimmicks?

I know that its probably best to make my own product and have affiliates market it for me, but I have no idea how to start creating a product. I'm an art student so its not like I have any real marketable skills. I can use photoshop, but I can't program for **** which makes making websites out of the question.

    Hard work
    Focus
    Time

    Find out what people want to buy, and sell it to them.

    Treat it just like you would any other business, because that's what it takes to succeed.. it's a business, just in digital format. You can get there quicker but the same rules of any type of business apply.
