For newbies who are unsure...

I first posted here several weeks ago, as I had just began my journey in the world of IM. At the time of my first post I had made a whopping $30 in my adsense account from my niche site. This was two weeks into the process.

THEN I stopped paying for advertising (project wonderful is a great place to start to get some traffic if you want to do some testing). Of course the adsense earnings dropped immensely. I went from making $15 a week to maybe $.33 which I expected.

What I didn't expect was the effect this would have on me. It got discouraging seeing such little money in the adsense account and I began to get desperate. All of a sudden I started looking at "other" ways to make money and began to get even more discouraged about my site.

Part of me wanted to just throw in the towel because the "instant" success wasn't there anymore. Then yesterday I logged into my account and saw $1.89, today $2.45! Small potatoes I know...

I am posting this because I want to tell those that are in a similar position as me to "stay the course" and DO NOT GIVE UP. Whether you are promoting clickbank, building a list for your own products, or making cash through advertising like me, keep at this.

When you don't see sales or revenue don't panic like I did and get desperate looking for a new way to make money. In the end if you hang in there your victory will be much sweeter.

Thanks for the information. How did you start driving your own traffic to your site? Would love to hear how you got more business :-)

I totally agree with you. However, I would add that no cash coming in can be a wake up call to a poor strategy. So sometimes desperately casting about for an alternative can reap bigger rewards in the end.

This is why my advice to any fellow newbie is to test, test, test! Without the original test I wouldn't have such a clear idea that my site was profitable. It's when the testing stopped and the organic traffic wasn't quite there that I began to feel desperate.

Again I say again, stay the course! This takes time -- and if you want to go out and buy a program to speed things up I assure you then that is your way of doing things.

@Kella Bella, the best traffic I have received thus far (with the occasional google search thrown in) is message board sig links. I am posting to 5 boards in my niche and each of them brings me about 10 visitors a day. None of them are dofollow boards, but they bring targeted traffic.

Each thing you try that doesn't work is one step closer to finding the that does.
just make sure that you give it a good try before moving on.

If you were given a pick and shovel and put a 1 acre field and told somewhere in this field is a bag of gold worth $100,000 would each empty hole you dug discourageyou.

No because you know the gold is there and each shovel of dirt you remove is one step closer to that $100,000

I think it would discourage me if 100 other people were in the same field digging for the gold! Sometimes that is how I feel about things, whether IM or not, its all a race.

BUT, if you can get yourself calmed down long enough to realize we are building business here those small days are easier to deal with. The bottom line is that you have to keep up and have the tenacity to weather those bad days...

It is important to be patient, persistent but also realistic. Some sites are just not going to generate the money you want, and in some cases it may be best to move on.

I would also try to incorporate additional revenue streams into your site, like affiliate marketing. Also try to build a list to which you can sell more products over and over again. If you do affiliate marketing, make sure you pick good vendors with a track record of high conversions. Otherwise you'll be wasting time and money driving traffic to a site that doesn't make any sales.

Also, once you have your site up and running, continue to promote it but also start another site, in a related micro-niche of your orignial niche, or a completely new niche. The idea is to build multiple streams of income. Making $2.45/day from one site is not much, but making $2.45 per day from 50-100 sites, and now you are talking some decent money!
