Wordpress Experts Please Help!

I recently transferred a bunch of my Joomla sites over to Wordpress
in an attempt to streamline and simplify my life a little. But nothing is
ever that simple is it?

I'm using a great theme called Massivepress.

The problem I am having is that I've made a post and it appears
on the homepage fine. But when I click on it to go and read the
whole article, the post page shows up but with no post in it!

Everything else is there - the widgets and header, etc - but no post.
Even the URL shows up as the post title. But no post.

Can anyone suggest what might be the cause of the problem?

Thanks,
Phil

If you copy and pasted from Joomla you probably picked up some of the code.

Go to edit post and look at the HTML code, remove everything but your text. This is usually the problem.

      Hi,

      thanks for your reply.

When I say I transferred my sites over, I don't mean I simply copied and
pasted. All articles are stored in text.txt files with no code.

      But thanks for your reply.

    Phil,

Try it with a different theme. You can use one of the defaults for this.

If it shows up in a different theme then the php file that displays a single post is buggered up.

      Hi Steve,

      thanks for your reply.

I assumed it was something simple I'd missed so I hadn't got as far as thinking
in the terms you suggest - so thanks.

I tried the same with a Prosense theme, which is as simple as they get. But the
psot still doesn't show up - in fact, on the Prosense theme it shows up with
      Error 404 - Not Found

So I'm guessing it's something to do with the Database or WP install - what do you
suggest. Since I only have one post on it I could go to a complete reinstall if
      necessary.

I'd be glad to hear further thoughts on this.

The complete re-install might save you hours of beating your head against the wall. Do some dummy pages and posts first and see if any of them show up on the appropriate pages. It never hurts to experiment!

I had the same problem a while ago and, like you, spent hours trying to figure it out. In the end I decided to re-install and everything was fine. I never found out the reason and just put it down to one of life's mysteries.
