Default TeleConference. How do I avoid mass chaos

I want to run a weekly teleconference with members of a site I have going. There is about 500 people on the site. I need advice on how the best way to set this up would be.

I want it structured so I can talk for about 20 minutes. Then I want to open it up for questions after that. The problem I see is that it will end up being a free for all and I won't get anything accomplished.

Anyone with any experience with this who can offer up some advice on the best way to set this up?

I appreciate any and all feed back.

Thanks,
Adam

I'm not expert on the subject, but my first thought was to have a simultaneous teleconference and chat (or similar) session going. Have people submit questions via chat, email, forum, whatever while you are talking. Then you can peruse the questions and say something like, "Ok, Mike XXXXXX, you had a question about YYYYYY." Let them ask the question and then go ahead with your answer. This way it still feels very interactive, but it should be pretty organized. Would be much easier with an assistant - run it like a radio show.

I occasionally update my blog: Ben Roy

Make sure you control the mute on the phone call - and use it! Also, consider making it a teleconference/webinar where you talk and people can type in any questions they have. This avoids dozens of people trying to talk at once. Get a helper to keep things on track and write down the questions so you can answer them at the end. You may want to record the whole thing for future use, too.

(Yeah, what Ben said.)

I am finding some good options. THe only problem I keep seeing is that I can't find one that will allow 500 people or so on it. I want to be able to have screen recording as well as phone access to the conference.

Have you checked out Ustream.tv? Russell Brunson's using it for his live training calls for the challenge. There were over 600 people on the call last time. It also has the live chat feature in the sidebar.

Not sure what the recording capabilities are, but I know he has the video recorded, as it's part of the challenge. Not sure if it will record all the chat stuff though.

Ed Dale also started using this during the 30 Day Challenge.

Might work for you. Good luck

Jackie

I just got off the phone with WebEx. I am waiting to hear back from a rep. Has anyone had any experience with them?

I am not looking to break the bank but this is something that I plan on using in my long term strategy so I don't want to go cheap on it. I guess I will wait to see what they have to say.
