As we know, these articles will do a little dancing for a while before they settle in. However, it's still amazing to me that in less than 24 hours you can get articles ranked for such nice keyword terms.

One of the terms has 52,000,000 competing pages and is "supposed" to bring 3,000 uniques per month. Of course we'll see how it plays out.

I used to write articles just to get traffic from the article directories and didn't care about rankings. However, after writing a couple of articles a year ago that each bring 700 visitors per month I now try and write a lot of SEO content.

Side Note-

I sometimes think people underestimate the actual traffic you can get directly from a directory like Ezine. I used to always think it was competitors that were clicking on and reading my articles until I actually started making daily sales.

So if you need money quickly I'd write some sexy articles that will get clicked on. Build your list and profit. If you have at least a month I wouldn't definitely write some SEO based articles.

You may write 10 seo based articles. Out of those 10 let's say that you get 5 on the front page. Out of those 5 only 2 will bring you more than a few hundred visitors per month from Google.

However, you'll also get traffic from people using the Google Search Engine on the EA site too. I've had articles that never ranked on the first page of Google but they still received a decent amount of traffic from people going to EA and typing in their search term in the engine.

Remember, I am not talking about linkbuilding or anything to your articles. I am just talking about writing a 400 word article with the kw in your headline, first paragraph, and last paragraph.

Good job but make sure you continue to backlink or do so if you have not already. Articles often get up there and then fade away but you can prevent this through backlinking.

I can't agree more with this. It's always a great feeling to see your articles on page 1. Then, you go back to check your ranking and your on page 14.

Back linking is the way to go if you want them to stick.

It would be interesting to see if they stick. Like some people mentioned it might drop in rankings. One thing I noticed while doing some keyword research the other day was a surprising number of ezinearticles on Google's first page for some high CPC keywords with a decent amount of traffic. Then I noticed they were published only a few days ago and only had 2 or 3 clicks (views). Which would seem to suggest that they were spidered when on ezinearticles homepage (new articles) and combined with the "newness" factor they got a high ranking. But the Googlebot visits often and when they slip off ezinarticles homepage I wouldn't be surprised if the first page ranking starts to slip.

Google tries to figure out where your site/article belongs and it fluctuates throughout this process.

That will happen for some articles but other articles will maintain their first page ranking. I have plenty of articles that were submitted back in 2005 that are still on the first page of Google.

But you are right, if you see your article starting to slip down the search engine rankings a healthy does of backlinks will anchor it back in place.

It is good to get your articles to the front page of the search results. The problem is that the article directory gets the lion's share of the clicks. It's a fair trade, though, considering the benefits your site gets.

Article marketing is a very powerful tool. You can make a living off of posting articles to ezinearticles alone.

Great case study for everyone to see the power of using articles.

This is inspirational. I have been written 13 articles exclusively for EZA without much success. It is probably because I have a long gap between each article.

Don't wanna burst your bubble but Google likes fresh content so you being ranked highly really fast can be brought down just as fast. It's the 'Google Dance' people were talking about in posts above mine. What you can do to keep them in those positions and raise them is to do some link building.

Keep in mind that EZA only allows a 2% keyword density for your article and they include the content in the resource box.

If you plan to use your keyword phrase in the first paragraph, last paragraph and your resource box you will need to have at least a 400 word article.

TimG, hit the nail on the head.

This is just a quick example. In fact, already some of those articles that didn't have very good rankings have already faded back a page. However, my page 1 rankings are staying strong.

In my experience you don't need a lot of links either. In fact, I just do a couple social bookmarks, ping my rss feed, a few profile links, and a few links from other directories.

Next thing you know, I am in the top 3 positions and they hold for months and months and months.

Last year I had an article in the "muscle building" niche that was bringing in 2,000 people per month. It shocked me that I was number 1 with this kw with out any links to it. Unfortunately, I deleted that article without thinking. I've never been able to get it on Page 1 again even with backlinks. Since then, I've moved away from focusing on that niche but it still would've brought me 15 sales per month.

    P.S.

Doesn't it make you "giddy" when you see other EA articles at the top in Google. Then you go to market samurai and find out they don't have any backlinks which makes life even better.

Indeed it does, almost as giddy as when I see articles from other article directories ranking high on the search engines because I know without a doubt they can be knocked off with very little effort. - I call that "Directory Leech"

Awesome, congrats! Is this with or without quotes on the keyword phrase? Most of the articles I get ranked on the first page are with quotes, although sometimes I can get them ranked without the quotes but not as often.

These are without quotes. The article with the best ranking has 52,000,000 competing pages and has 20 adwords ads. The backlink building has already started. If your read my previous post you'll see that it doesn't take that much though. I just want to make sure this things stays up there. Or if it gets bounced it will bounce back.

      P.S.

I also want to note that my articles are between 400-600 words long. However, they're still getting a 38% ctr. With articles this long it means the prospect has to scroll down to see my resource box. That's fine with me because I know they're actually reading the article.
