How much traffic do you get from forums?

How much traffic do you get from posting in high traffic forums? I'm not taking about marketing forums with money making oppertunities in their signature but say if I had a CPA offer for superbowl tickets and was highly active on a NFL forum with high traffic? Is it worth the time? Can you expect to get only traffic from the post you make that day or if you post like 1000 post over time can you expect good traffic? I know no one can tell me any specifics but if you can give me your experiance with posting in forums that would be great thanks.. And also I'm not doing it to get backlinks for the serps just wondering about forum traffic by itself.

Last year I was very active in a niche forum for my own personal use but I have a website in that niche so I included a link to it in my signature. I used to see a spike in traffic on the days that I posted, but even now when I'm no longer really active I still get a small flow of traffic from the posts that I made. It all depends if they rank in Google or if they're on popular topics that people still search for within the forum.

    I say go for it

I'd recommend having it in your signature as well, increases the traffic that you will get as it's in all your posts, not just the one you've dedicated to promoting it in.

I've had forums where I was once active and still get traffic from my signature links as well as advertising posts. Forums can bring a lot of traffic if you're smart in promotion; not overdoing is probably the most important part

That's what I mean putting it in my Sig I have no intentions of advertising it only having it in my sig I figure if I can sit and talk about my favorite sport all day and in turn that will bring me traffic and sales then great, it would be something I actually enjoy doing instead of articles and SEO and such but if it's not going to make me decent money then i'm not going to spend my time doing it

    Oh alright.

In that case it would probably depend a lot on what you are promoting. For instance, if it's a free signup to some sports betting site, if you're trying to sell a team guernsey of have ebay ads on your site they can buy through, etc. As said, I have received visitors from posting links in my signature and posting throughout the day - whether that makes more money than you other methods that is for you to find out; it will probably vary from niche to niche.

I'm quite confident that SEO and articles will be better long term options however.

If the link is in actual post the you can get decent traffic but if your link is in signature then you will very very less traffic or no traffic at all.
Best strategy is to promote your link in forums posts itself..
And do it on forums that have atleast 20-25 members online all the time which you can see from the stats on the forum homepage.. I have a very good experience with this..

True & it works! but the problem is you can do it every day at same forum.

It does indeed work and I can vouch for that fact. Posting a link to my blog on forums has resulted in quite a bit of traffic most of which has resulted in conversions. I see the same sort of results simply by having a link to my blog in my facebook profile. I have even gotten conversions on items that I haven't actively promoted for a while.

I get at least 100 (sometimes quite a bit more) hits just from forum marketing alone.
