    Joe,

If you're struggling and not making any money, why would want to talk to people who aren't making any money?

It's like asking for relationship advice from someone who has been divorced three times... Talk to those doing well, not those doing poorly.

    Just my two cents.

I agree with Gary. Not to shoot you down or anything, but your interviews will only end up preaching to the choir without adding anything productive to anyone's situations.

I think there may be another perspective here. While analyzing why the majority is failing, there may be a trend here. May be everyone or at least the majority is making the same mistakes and by identifying the common mistakes it may help a lot in eliminating them.

For me, I always say that 'Identifying the problem is half the solution'

So by identifying if there are any common mistakes, it may become apparent what the solutions are and hence helping people overcome those mistakes.

    My 2 cents

I see what you're saying, but I can see something like this very quickly turning into a bundle of theories that no party has really tried or gotten the hang of.

That's the benefit of listening to those who've "been there" - they not only know what it's like to be in that position, but they know from experience how to improve on it.

Well, there is a clear trend, but asking people who are struggling is not the way to get the best information on how to overcome the mistakes, for, as mentioned, several reasons:

      1) People have a tendency to blame anything, and anyone, else for their failures - these are the people you see screaming 'scam' so often.

      2) Focusing on what went wrong, even if it's untainted by bias, is a negative experience that will demotivate the participant.

So what other way is there to learn what the major trends are in those who make little or no money online?

Easy. One of my online colleagues conducted a very informative survey of 25,000 of his subscribers that provides important insights into a) why people are working online, b) what they wish to achieve, and c) how well they have done in their efforts to achieve their goals.

It's included in my newbie guide below, and shows a clear trend that causes of 50% of people to make no money (zilch!) online - even after working six months to as many as two years online!.

Problem with talking to people who are failing is most people are subconciously programmed to justify their own actions. I would say if someone has not made money after a year of effort then they do not know what they are doing wrong (or are unlikely to admit to it). Sometimes it takes a thrid party observer to tell them where they are going wrong.

Ever seen Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares? The business owners at first deny what they are doing until they are slapped around the face with it several times.

Make friends on this board by getting in contact with people. Don't send begging messages or ask for free mentoring. Just wait until you see a good post that helps you and send the person a thankyou message and introduce yourself. Eventually you will have a good circle of motivated people to bounce ideas off and give opinions on different methods.

I'd have to go with the consensus here and say that I wouldn't be talking to people that have failed. If you've ever hung out with a negative person then you know how hard it can be to stay motivated. In contrast, imagine spending the day with Tony Robbins - you would be absolutely pumped for the entire day and ready to take on the world.

If you want to be a success you have to hang around people that are successful and if you want to make money online then you have to hang around people that are making money online.

Don't focus on the issues but focus on the success stories.
