I was just reflecting on how I've actually gotten plenty of good ideas from internet marketers in the how-to-make-money-internet-marketing niches.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I am actually glad that some people do. I'm not sure what compels some people to share information, when they really don't need to.

Sure, there is a lot of iffy how-to product out there. But it is not just in Internet marketing. Take acting. I've seen shysters posing as acting agents, who tell wannabe actors that they must first fork out hundreds of dollars to attend some BS acting workshop before being represented (while legal in Canada, this practice is totally against the law in the United States).

Since actual available slots are very limited in certain super-competitive markets, there is much more money to be made in the wannabe market.

What happens is that in such entities as MLM giant Amway, it becomes apparent that there is actually more money to be made in selling how-to-sell-the-product information materials and seminars than in selling the actual products themselves (detergent, skin cream, what have you).

However, some internet marketers do indeed share valuable information and really do make more money practicing their craft outside of selling the how-to stuff than in selling it.

    Imagine that some multi-millionaire finds a great way to make $1,000 a month.

    Do you think he really gives a damn if he makes another $1,000 a month?

    Keeping it secret profits him absolutely nothing. But selling it gives him some number of people saying "wow, he taught me to make $1,000 a month" - and he probably sells it for a whole lot more than $1,000 a month, once you total up all the sales.

    It scales down, too. Lots of people find ways to make decent money online, but to them, it's just not interesting... they make better money already. So they put it out there for other people, who dream of making that kind of money.
