Gmail Tricks- Let's create a new A in 1 thread :)

I want to hear these, too! I know I'm only scratching the surface in what I'm doing now.

I'm a big fan of using Labels to organize incoming email. I'm also a fan of using Google Alerts.

i use gmail as a poor mans auto responder. i post an ad on craigslist and tell them to email me for more info and set up the vacation responder to reply to all mail with a message containing my affiliate link

Use gmail to host your own domain emails. Go into your settings and go to the tab "labs". There are a ton of cool things you can do in there. I use a great deal of them, but one I'll mention here is to enable the "superstars" setting. It helps keep things more organized by staring them with various different star icons. Oh, I will mention this too, enable "multiple inboxes" then you can have your stared messages show up together separate from your inbox.

Hey that's a pretty cool feature...the one with the multiple inboxes. I should probably be using that

I've never heard that one before. Interesting.

What I do know works is adding dots to your name such as:

(original address: yourname@gmail.com)

your.name@gmail.com
you.rname@gmail.com
y.ourname@gmail.com
yournam.e@gmail.com, etc.

If you start with a long username, you can get loads of "new" email adresses.

Sites you sign up with see them as new addresses, but they all go through to the one "catchall" adress at gmail.

I also strongly recommend checking out the "Undo Send" and "Canned Responses" features under Gmail Labs. Both killer features that I couldn't do without.

Edit: Nearly forgot the "Send & Archive" option... again in labs. Keeps the inbox clean
