It's a harder niche than most i would say if you want to make the bigger money!

Ive moved most of my stuff from the internet marketing niche and gone into the other niches with my own product's and so far it's working very very well.

Honestly, I've noticed that most of the people who are seriously earning major cash in the IM industry don't say that.

Instead, they say that their techniques and principles still work outside of the MMO/IM niches, and that you don't have to stay in that niche to use their system.

The major thing most people say about staying out of the MMO/IM niche as a newbie is that you don't know WTF you're saying yet.

How many times have you seen someone come into this forum saying "how do I get traffic to my site?" when their signature says "get thousands of visitors overnight" and points to a WSO?

When people advise you to stay out of this niche, what they really mean is that these niches are not like, say, the "swimming pool cleaning" niche where the average customer you get is someone who doesn't know squat about cleaning a swimming pool. It will be a lot faster and easier for you to find success in another niche, and most people want "fast and easy" in their IM efforts.

Lets be honest... Telling a newbie to stay clear from the IM niche isn't bad advice, no matter what the motive is behind it.

I don't think anyone can call Make Money Online "my niche."

I say stay away from it because you can do better in a less saturated niche with less effort. Then there's always the fact that newbies are competing with all the big boys and they haven't really got a clue how to make money online, so it's basically like the blind leading the blind.

If you need a mechanic do you choose someone with experience fixing cars - or someone who just read a book about how to fix cars?

Same thing in the MMO niche. The best advice a new marketer can read is "don't start with the make money online niche" - because he doesn't yet know how to do it himself.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

I will be the contrarian. I think that the internet marketing niche is one of the easier niches for most people to start in. Why?

        A) it's a damn good niche to make money in
        B) people are savvy about affiliate marketing and JVs - meaning you can get them
        C) it's easy to get interviews with BIG NAMES

Meaning this... you start out... don't know what you're dong... you just go to people who do know what they're doing... and interview them.

Package some of these interviews together and make it a low ticket product to build a list with. Where do you get the traffic? From those who you interviewed. Some will mail for your finished product once it's done.

Then, repeat process. Over and over and over again. pretty soon you'll have a great education yourself just from doing an interview, plus you'll have a lot of products out there, using the credibility and expertise of experts.

I agree with Jason... it all depends on how you approach it, there's more opportunities in the IM niche, than most niches, you also have a lot of people that can help you out and give you advice along the way - just don't pretend to be an expert (tell people what you know and they will respect and trust you for being honest)

...also think of it this way - you know more than someone else, there are newer nubies then you, just do some research and testing, then you know more than the next guy (it's all about effort)

I think many people are attracted to the MMO niche because that's the niche in which they were first exposed to internet market concepts. They can't figure out how to extrapolate the concepts and take them to a different market - which is how we end up with people who 6 weeks ago never heard of an autoresponder posting a WSO that tells how they made $215,151,634,743 in 3 days as an email marketing maven.

      Look at it this way.

Who are the top 10,000 sites in the current webosphere?

What do they give to their visitors?

Is it "How to Make Money Online".

      No it's not..

I don't even know what it is myself but just pointing something out.

Make Money Online isn't even a huge niche so obviously it's not exactly the best niche. But for finding people willing to spend cash online - over and over again - it is certainly a great one.

Then again so is Technology among others.

Go see them top 10,000 sites. See if you notice a trend.
