What is mosst pleasing to the eye as far as the article directory scripts out there?

Article Dashboard, Article Friendly, Alstasoft, etc...

With no regard to SEO or rankings...which one looks the best to you?

    Article Friendly, hands down.

For the price, the quality and support cannot be beat.

    Check my sig for examples...

    Best!

      Allen,

I've been doing a little research on this, I think any directory that gives your headline and your body copy a chance to compete with the damn adsense advertisers scores high in my book.

I hate an "article" site that interupts your article with all sorts of adsense crap and then puts your bio box somewhere in the bottom of the confusing tirade of ads.

EZA is still ok and some of the others, but many of the 'so-called" top article sites are more ad than content. No wonder we only get a link from them and no traffic.

        No doubt,

As I have been viewing demo sites and sites using certain scripts, it's more like an ad site with an article interrupting the flow of the ads!

Anyhow, I would have no ads on the site at all - zero. You can take a look at the article in the 4th line below. That's how I would prefer it look, but I have to get rid of article dashboard. I am looking for support and security.

If that helps, which one is set up the best in your opinion?

Any decent site designer can add or remove anything, in a few minutes, including ads.

What is important, as with any software is price, security, and support.

Also the front end being "unencrypted" helps quite a bit for customizing.

          Hope that helps!

Just my humble opinion man...I've got a new laptop with the WIDE screen thing going on and when I look at that, it fills up my screen. Not sure if it shrinks for other viewer, but I'd rather have an article at about 640x480 or whatever...

I'm not making sense, but an article should be at around 100-200 letters per line and have appropriate page and paragraph breaks, kinda like pages in a book.

What I saw at that site immediately hit me as lines too long and hard to read.

    Just my humble opinion.

If your talking about my sites, we are developing a font adjustment option for the script.

Being able to enlarge the fonts should help that.

So those with different screens and resolutions can view the site better.

Though I'll probably just tweak the CSS a bit.

If you set it up correctly, then I'm 99.9% sure that you could use WordPress for the job!

    A permalink something like...

    Code:
    /%category%/%post_id%-%postname%.html
    ...Should be fine!

(Meaning that it'll look like /internet/marketing/725-the-warrior-forum-if-great.html and the search engines should love that! - Plus, you could always add some clever plugins, and use whatever kind of theme you'd like.)

While you'd have to approve all the articles, I guess you have to do that anyway with any current script you are using. The best thing here is that WordPress is only getting better and better!

So it may not be any useful to anyone, but it's an idea I've had for a while!

    Thanks

      Mark,

Would I then need to manually set up the authors to be able to submit an article (blog post)? Also, would I have to set up all the categories and autor stat pages and such? Seems like there would be a lot of extra work involved. Is there a plug in that could do this?

Used to have one based on wordpress, that would require much more work to set up and much more time spent in editorial functions.

Don't know if there is anyway to convert an existing database, to the Wordpress schema.

But it is an option with a directory plugin that's available.

        Best!

Allen, in WordPress you can decide what 'role' new authors are that register. Now I can't remember exactly what one whould be best, but you'd want one were they could publish their post, however it needs to be approved by someone higher up! (At least, I would think it would work like that!)

There is a plugin, I've seen it around, but can't remember at the moment what it's called or where to find it! There are other plugins around in which I'd assume the authors would be able to see, meaning they could check out their stats!

...As I said, it's something that I've been wanting to try. Once it's been setup, then you probably wouldn't need to do anything bar approve the articles.

        Does that help?

        Thanks
        Mark

(P.S - This is how I believe it would all work!)
