Internet marketing Pop quiz Warriors

Hey warriors I have been internet marketing successfully for quite awhile

I have been getting into offline businesses and putting them online and marketing them

The problem is that I run into some very high competition keywords

I have many successful long tails top ranked on google which generates a very good amount of traffic to the companies website

So the question is

Is there a site or program out there that will count the number of back links a site has so I can see exactly how many back links I need to build to out rank my competition?

Im working for a client now who wants me to rank #3 on a keyword with 1,000,000 searches a month with about 80,000,000 competition pages

If I could see exactly how many back links I need I could give him a time frame right now I building about 20 back links a day but Im just shooting blind

Any tips fellow warriors

That is a tough one to crack, 80,000,000 competition? Damn! But it can be done.

First of all I would look at the PR of your competition and Alexa ranking, those are very influential factors, if you are up against a PR7+ then backlinks are not all you are going to be needing, you will need content, lots of it, hundreds if not thousands of pages.

On the other hand, you can try backlinking hard for the specific keyword you want to rank for, but you will also need backlinks from very high PR websites which sometimes can be very hard to get and even expensive.

You might be looking at a few thousand backlinks here or more. If I remember correctly there was a post in the old forum about a warrior that ranked #1 for the term "make money online" which is pretty competitive, it should be under the best warrior threads.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, I believe that MarketLeap.com (look for the link on that site to the Link Popularity Check) will give you the backlink information you're looking for.
