the perfect membership

Hello warriors, I want to know what you think to be the perfect membership site. I want to know regarding price, daily content, as well as what the membership site has to offer as a community. What kind of leadership traits would you like your leaders to posses as well? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this!

As for me?

I want a community like a family, would like acces to things only available through that site. As for the price, I would gladly pay $40 a month for something like this. My leaders would need to be honorable, good people, fair, as well as a person of respect.

So what do you think?

    I don't understand your question......

What type of membership are you referring to?

A membership that offers services? software? products? information and personal advice? a place for people to share information in a private way?

I've paid $1000 to join a membership which offered nothing but good people to communicate safely with.

But I wouldn't pay $10 for a random set of IM products in a membership.

So - not sure how to answer you.

I am looking for others opionions of their choices for a membership site and what it has to offer. I am not really talking about anything in particular but what THEY want a membership site to hold or offer. It can be about anything.

Hi, Skid_Roe. I agree with Andyhenry in that there are too many variables involved so there is no "one size fits all" way to respond to the question.

If you're asking me, as a customer, what I'd like to see in a membership site (again, depending on the niche, types of content and if it's an interactive setup with "things to do" ... I'd like a membership that delivers regularly but not too often (biweekly or monthly as opposed to weekly); is affordable (again, it depends on the niche content because specialized information can often justify the price point). I like to receive things I can download (such as ebooks, lesson modules, audio and video files) that I can look at/peruse at a later time such as pdf documents, videos in formats that are native (i.e., I don't have to download a proprietary piece of software to view them) or am unfamiliar with.

If I were putting up a membership site (and I am planning to) I'd like to do all of the above and also provide a free area where I collect a valid email address before letting casual visitors into the public area. That way, I can send appropriate content in emails every 14 days or so ... and use a link to the "benefits of joining" the membership site.

The very best piece of information I can give you (and I'm no expert) is to provide very useful information. Not a rehash of the SOS anyone can find anywhere online. The PLR stuff, for example, is useless, unless it is re-written/repurposed effectively and repackaged in some cases (because in some niches, PLR is everywhere and you can get hit with a duplicate content penalty if the niche is saturated by content from competing websites.

In terms of price, you should get a "feel" for your target market and be able to answer the question whether or not that population is used to accessing information via the web and will part with their money to do so. But generally, any price point from $9.97 to $97 per month (ex: basic but useful information through to highly technical, specialized information) is feasible.

Don't know what else to say, except that there are some very exciting advice all throughout the Warriors Forum on membership sites. Do a search on "membership site + information" and see what comes up.

And good luck with your endeavor.

    Ina

I have to agree with henry and ina, there is isn't a standard "all for all, and everything goes" type of site. I think you need to narrow down your options and your idea. I think you either have no idea as to what you really want or you do know and simply are testing the waters to see how people react to what TONS of membership sites but they are niche specific.

I recommend you sit, analyze your thoughts and put them down, either on paper or on a notepad in your PC. Right now you do not seem to have a clear mind as to what exactly you want people to answer. Remember, the internet is vast, the options are unlimited, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to cover all grounds. So you need to have an idea and a plan before you begin to take action.

I think what you are asking is "I want a membership site because the idea of people paying me money over and over again sounds great - but i have no freakin' clue what to sell"

      Is that about right?

IMO the perfect membership is one which valuable enough that is justifies whatever it's cost to the user - so that they will "never cancel" for either one of 2 reasons.

      1. they personally feel hurt inside if they quit - ie/ they are giving up on themselves if they do

EG. a gym membership - how many people continue to pay week after week and don't actually go to a gym - they don't quit because they will "go next week" and they don't want to feel like they a quitting even if they don't use the service because they feel part of the gym and therefore it makes them feel good.

      or

      2. the service provides enough value that it's great to have "just in case" even if weeks/months go by without ever using the service (or using it to it's maximum value)

EG. home delivery newspaper - how many people actually read the entire paper? Or how many people actually read the ENTIRE paper - they might just glance at a few pages or a few sections - but they continue to subscribe "just in case" they do feel like reading it.

      THE IMPORTANT PART TO NOTE:

Either way you must provide VALUE for the COST of the membership - If you don't you will not keep or increase a membership base.

You don't mention what market you are trying to target but keep this in mind - Come up with any sort of membership that does fulfill either of the above reasons and you'll have a very profitable membership service.
