Does 'Exit Splash Script' do away the need for having Squeeze page??

I have just bought Dave Guindon's 'exit splash page' script which as u may well be aware is script that u install on your servers that tries to monetize the prospects exiting your page.
So now this has got me thinking if there is need anymore to create a seperate squeeze page for my product salesletter page.
That's because I can use this script now to offer the prospects that are exiting the page to optin in exchange for some freebie.And then when they optin, can create a 2nd exit splash page with discounted offer form the main product.
Anyone tried this i.e instead of setting up squeeze page, use this script to get optins. I am thinking this maybe more effective sales process where the prospect is driven direct to the main salesletter. And then if they buy 1st go, Great- no need for exit splash to come into play. BUT if they try to exit, then the script does its job of pushing for optin.
Any exit splash scrip user's feedback on this woulb very helpful.
