Flippa Question: Can You Reference Other Auctions In Yours?

Hypothetically, say you're selling a site on Flippa. You see that a somewhat similar site went for a specific amount recently. Can you talk about that auction in yours? Like can you highlight the fact that your site has a higher PR, a higher Alexa ranking, more uniques, etc, just so the buyer gets a better estimate of the value of your site?

People do it but to me, if I see an auction like that, I may not buy it mainly because it makes the seller sound too desperate.

You can however, reference other auctions in PM to prospective buyers.

Ahhhh, this is a very good idea. So you've effectively hooked them in with the initial auction description. Then when they contact you, you give them the side-by-side comparison info as the "cherry on top". It's almost like the auction description is a pre-sale affiliate landing page...and the comparison details are the actual factual numbers on the final sales letter!

      (Metaphorically-speaking, of course)

But buyers have been known to react well to side-by-side comparisons. Add to that, someone who may have bid and missed out on the other auction may now realize that they can get a site that will give them even more value/revenue.
