What's Involved in Setting Up An Online MLM Business?

Hi there!

I recently meet a rather successful woman who created an MLM business offline a few years ago, and she's enjoying the royalties from that.

She's now wanting to create a new MLM business, but online. She's not technically oriented and has asked me to look into it for her. It's all new to me, so I'm looking for help with the question:

1) "What's involved in setting up an online MLM business, especially from the technical side (for example software to purchase etc)?"

Also, the model she wants to use is having a primary PDF product with internal (affiliate) links to other companies' products.

2) Does that seem like a feasible model for MLM?

Thanks for any help!

If you wanna be successful in online mlm, you GOTTA do ppc, a field that I never tried. Forget attracting prospect with video marketing, etc...

PPC is the way to go.

There was a Russian mlm'er, very successful in network marketing, that said that online mlm doesn't work. I'm tempted to believe that she's right, she's making a lot of dough in her mlm without online marketing. Yulia something.

Online MLM is really hard. Internet people don't want to spend any money, nor spend any time. Translating that into buying products and promoting those products to people in the real world doesn't exactly work out. Out of 30,000 hits and 300 leads, we have added 4 people to our organization, who then did nothing but take up a lot of time. The internet people are looking for a pyramid scheme they can be at the top of, not a MLM that requires they build an organization. They are also just looking for you to give them your system, for them to not actually do anything. The attraction marketing might work if she is already making a lot of money and can walk the talk, is an attractive person, and a dynamic speaker, but if she doesn't already have a nice house/nice car/vacation home to show off, why should someone join her when they can join someone who has that to show they are successful. However, once they join, they will realize they don't have a big house/boat/car/face to show off, and get down on themselves that they can't do it, which if you try to turn around takes a lot of time/energy. The best part about the internet marketing has been having a flow of leads so that you feel like you are doing something and stay motivated and don't get down on yourself. In that respect it is worth it as that has kept my wife motivated while she grew a six figure income offline. So online marketing itself is not successful, but the lead generation is a good motivator and buffer against getting discouraged.

Well it's hard to build a MLM biz but if you have a good downlines then just wait and it will grow. Teach them so that they will teach their downlines.

MLM is a lot more work that what it seems like. If you want to succeed in MLM you have to recruit and train new affiliates, because, if you recruit afiliates and they don't know how to do it, well guess what, you won't make any money. I would definitely not recommend MLM for people starting out because the cost and investment is high and takes a long time before you start seeing any profit.
