Why Do You Guys Use Articles?

Ok, I know you get good results but I just see it as something that takes a lot of time for results that you could get by doing something that takes half the time and gives you better results.

What are your thoughts?

Link farms aren't that effective for very long if at all, and will get you deindexed by google.

Do you hear what you're saying? lol Tell that to my bank account. Link farms DO work like magic if done right.

And to everyone: I have no doubt that articles do work. I was just saying I think there are better ways to spend your time.

Why don't you tell us. You don't have to give away what you are selling but a step by step method might work better in helping us understand :-)

Articles are needed for content. You can't build a site or blog or whatever without any content. You'll need articles for whatever niche you're in.

You can get some nice click-through traffic from article sites, if your articles offer some decent information. Heavily spun, unreadable junk will not help you, aside from the links.

    Articles always work.

There are a lot of things out there that take half the time, and give you better results... when they give you results.

But articles always give results. They might be very small results, but if you just keep writing the articles and getting them out there, those very small results tend to add up.

(I don't do articles either. But I understand why people do.)

Articles = Backlinks + Immedeate Traffic

    Backlinks = Good SERPs
Good SERPs = Long Term Traffic

    Thus, adding them up

Articles = Immedeate Traffic + Long Term Traffic
    = Traffic all the time

    Traffic = Sales
    So,
Traffic all the time = Sales all the time

An article is just content, that's all. And you need content for products like ebooks, special reports, minicourses, etc. And for things like blog posts and forums posts. (This that I'm typing right now is content and may turn into a blog post as well as a forum post.)

So why not take that content you're going to create (or have created for you) anyway, and turn it into articles that can be used to increase your backlinks and/or drive targeted traffic to your site?

if your content/article is any good it also helps you gain credibility in your marketplace, which will helps with conversion rates, etc.

Creating content is almost *never* a bad idea. And reusing content in many different ways is almost *always* a good idea.

I use articles because article marketing is a useful way of getting back links. Write in good quality articles and submit to ezine etc. It has two fold benefits: one that you get quality back links and second that if your content has value in it then people recognize it and tend to share it with others.

Also, with well written articles, you can establish yourself as an authority in your niche - thus giving your site more credibility.

        (ii) Articles produce both fast and slow targeted traffic - fast in the obvious way and slow because if I write long articles which are both controversial and entertaining, other webmasters and ezine/newsletter compilers consistently re-publish my articles from article directories (which is actually what they're there for) in front of at least relatively targeted future audiences, and the net effect is that over the months, I get other people effectively doing some of my off-page SEO for me;

(iii) Articles are a way for me to ensure that my traffic's laser-targeted: I can use them to attract buyers rather than "browsers".

I suspect that many of the marketers who try article marketing briefly and decide it doesn't work for them are missing two of these three points. Sometimes even all three, if they're paying to outsource badly-written articles which have no chance at all of fulfilling the second and third points, which are where the real money is.

Because all an article really is some text containing keywords. The google search engine modus operndi is finding keywords. Your article contains keywords the search engine finds these keywords which either link to your site, or are on your site. You then sell products built around these keywords.

Of course you don't have to call your text containing keywords an article , you can call it anything you want; report, ebook, blueprint, course or comment, post, whatever.

Even xrummer is based on placing keywords within text.

Most contributors therefore agree that articles are beneficial.

They help to direct targeted traffic, reveal you as an expert in your field and sell for you.
As Alexa has succinctly put , do not worry about plagiarism. When other people steal your articles for their own use, they could be doing you a great favor. Search engines will be able to link these articles to your site or the point of origin and thus improve your rankings.

In any case, is it not fun to write on what you truly love? This wealth of information over time, can be compiled into organized media and sold.

Articles can be used for many purposes:
    1. Search engine food for your blog
    2. In your email sequence
    3. Drive traffic from article sites
    4. Content for your special reports or products
    5. and more...

In short, you can use and reuse the article many times over.

For me, I use articles because of many of the reasons already pointed out, but my thoughts specifically are:

    -Targeted traffic from day 1
    -SEO benefits long term
-Seen as an authority in the field
-Articles are an easy way to approach wineries that otherwise wouldn't have any interest in talking to our wine club. Everyone likes seeing good things about their business, wineries and winemakers are no different.

    In no certain order:
    • To get traffic
    • To build credibility
    • To get links
    • To get my name out there
    • To build valuable content that I can sell to large corporations later
    • To get invited as a guest on radio, TV, or reality shows (yep, each one has happened because of articles).

Articles are an asset. At least, when they are done right.

Too many people think of this as a one time shot deal and that's not the way to use content. Good content can be used over and over and over - that's the true value of articles.

I have found that a well writen article can get you traffic for years. You do it once and you don't have to do any sort of follow up with it. htey get ranked well and if you have a good niche keyword, the traffic is very targeted and converts.

So I do articles because they give me long term traffic that sticks.

Quality articles are one of the best ways to promote a site and products. With a well written article, you get quality back links too and targeted traffic. Best of all, if you do it yourself, it's free.
It is really not true that article marketing is a very slow marketing tool. With the right product and quality articles, you can start seeing results fairly fast.

You don't have to spend the time writing articles, as it does take time. You can outsource it for quite cheap, especially if you have a lot of articles to get done. Articles are necessary for content for sites, etc.

Those who say they are good for backlinks I just laugh at if they are saying just submit an article to one or two article directories, unless we are talking about being able to get 100s of backlinks with just one article submission, which is possible.

It's not necessary to use articles, but if you know how to use them correctly, definitely worthwhile for some.

Articles should serve multiple purposes and not just backlinks.

Content is king and should be understood that it is a medium to attract targeted visitors. The internet plays the role primarily of as the 'information' highway and text based sites will allows be the number one source on the internet. So our articles should be used to capture an audiences attention to attempt to create a 'satisfied' follower.
