Pros and Cons about Clickbank for a seller?

Hi,
I have been selling my digital products in Japan but I'm new to the English market. In Japan I have used something like clickbank to sell my products, but I have never used Clickbank itself.

While I was researching about the English market, I have noticed that a lot of sellers just use Paypal, not through a "middle-man" service like clickbank.

Just looking at it one of the pros of Clickbank I can think of is that you can get affiliators from Clickbank, and one of the cons is that the money is not paid instantly. Are they the main reasons to or not to use clickbank?

Are there any other reasons?
If you don't care how soon the money comes to your account, clickbank is the way to go?

My products are software programs.
Thanks

Clickbank is easy for a pro affiliate. But sometime is hard to sell some thing with clickbank product. Because some product not good as advertising and the people do not trust the strange name. But if you want to promote your brand name with a little cost , click bank is good place for do this. Just put down the profit and the world will know you. After that you sell another products with same brand. Just my mind.

Well most clickbank merchant is looking way to gain more exposure to their products and get more affiliate to promote. Clickbank is also good for building brand to you because clickbank is the biggest and the most trusted digital marketplace. They have thousand of affiliate ready to promote your site worldwide.

So if you are still new it's better to go with clickbank it can build trust to your products, not all products accepted by clickbank and when your products accepted that's meant you are qualified seller.

I also use clickbank and it gets me more exposure to my site.

Here are some thoughts. I have a love/hate affair with Clickbank.

Clickbank can sometimes get you more affiliates and sales since it has 100,000 active affiliates. This depends on a lot of factors, btw.

Clickbank will cause affiliate theft (where people buy with there own affiliate ID). So you'll lose money.

My Clickbank buttons get lower conversion rates than my Paypal buttons. Same button image, btw. And when I say lower, I mean 1% lower. It seems people prefer paying at Paypal for MY products. Your experience may be different.

Clickbank will pay your affiliates for you. That means NO 1099 Paperwork at the end of the year. This is excellent for vendors.

    Thanks Bluesquares!
1 % lower...Really? That's huge!! (Of couese depending on your products' price though)
Maybe I should have 2 sites/sales pages, 1 is for clickbank affiliates, and the other is for other marketing using Paypal...

it is not difficult to get your products accepted. When you submit your stuff, they will let you know if there is anything you need to change. I worked with them on getting my product accepted and everything worked out fine.

      I do have a question:

How can you get more affiliates to promote your product on clickbank? I've been there for about 2 weeks now with little success....

If you put your product on the CB Market Place, typically affiliates will find it and start promoting it, especially if you have a good sales page that appeals to them.

Since putting my product on the Market Place, I've had anywhere between 30 and 75 affiliates promoting it. This is one of the advantages of using CB and why it's a good place to start out as a Vendor.

Of course, finding the affiliates who are going to generate most of your sales is a whole different ball game.

      Clickbank pros...

      • Very easy to setup and integrate w/ your website
      • Lots of affiliates to (potentially) promote your product
      • They take care of affiliate payments automatically
      • Option to get paid weekly via direct deposit straight into your bank acct.
      • They understand "launches" (ie lots of $ coming into your account all at once), and will not freeze your account because of this (UNLIKE Paypal)!

      Clickbank cons...

      • They will give your customers refunds for any reason (or no reason at all), instantly. Even if it's 2 minutes after they purchased your product. If you're selling an ebook then you're just SOL. BUT... if you are selling a software program, you can combat this by setting up your software so that it blocks access to anyone who has requested a refund.
      • They let affiliates purchase your product through their own affiliate link, thereby getting your product at a big discount. Personally, this doesn't bother me that much, but a lot of vendors don't like this, so it's something to be aware of.

I've been using Clickbank for several years now, both as a vendor and as an affiliate. From a vendors perspective, I think the pros far outweigh the cons. From an affiliate's perspective however, I think the pros and cons are a bit more "even" (primarily due to their "less than perfect" affiliate tracking). That said, I think it's still worth being a CB affiliate, in certain niches.

      Hope this helps!
