Audio Greeting For Blog To Increase Opt-Ins Yaay Or Naaa?

I am experimenting with different techniques to increase my opt-in rate. Need unbiased opinions - 1 minute greeting message on blog that is set automatically for every new visitor to my blog.

They say audio increases opt-ins do you find this to be true?

Good idea? Or Bad? Your Thoughts!

I am always listening to music and I hate it when audio turns on without my choosing. That probably doesn't help you though.

I also find it extremely discouraging and annoying when unsolicited audio begins playing on my computer. But why not test it out?

An embedded YouTube video also might be effective. Even if you don't want to make a video, you could make it essentially an audio with a Power Point of the words you are saying. Put it somewhere prominent where everyone will see it near your opt-in box and you can give them a little pitch to get them to opt-in.

It could be irritating but it is good way to increase opt-in rate. I think a minute is quite too long for an intro though. You might want to try a short but interesting one.

The only opinion that counts is that of your target market.

Do a split test and see which one works out best for your
    target market.

Then count heads, and you'll know for sure you've got the
right answer - direct from the horse's mouth.

My opinion on the use of audio playing automatically (or
anyone elses) is irrelevant to your specific situation.

    Dedicated to your success,

    Shaun

It can be done, but they have to push "play" themselves.

It's great you pointed that one out. I also found it disappointing when an audio automatically plays without you expecting it especially when you're deeply interested into reading a blog content. I can say it's not bad to put that medium although it doesn't have to be automatically playing - so audience will have to play it or not if they get interested, plus, it has to be quick to retain listening and attention.

In my opinion, if it's one of those audio greetings that pop's up on its own and then just won't turn off, I absolutely hate it.

Hate it to the extent of almost always, immedeately closing that website. :p
    That's just my opinion though...

I second the idea of letting the visitor press play themselves. With text, it's easy to scan through, but with audio, once you've started to listen you need to stay and be patient to hear everything. This might sound like a bad thing but I actually think this might make people a bit more patient, if the message seems interesting or important.
