How I get a 40% CTR and tons of views with article marketing

Hey there guys!

I'm just taking a break and decided to check out the warrior forum. This is a post I wanted to make for a few weeks now, but just got around to it.

I've been using article marketing as my main backlinking strategy and have been writing around 5-20 articles a day(whether for myself or for freelancing) every day for around 1-2 months now.

The majority of my articles didn't get any clicks at all for a while. MAYBE one click every now and then, and I jumped for joy about it.

Until I changed up the structure of how I write my articles.

I looked through ezinearticles and looked at which articles made me literally crave to click the link.

I noticed the following things were always there:

They normally weren't long articles. At most, maybe 600 words.

They were also very, very helpful and intriguing, and sometimes they were written in a way that made me so interested that I wanted to keep reading - almost as if it were a page out of a really good book.

Right as it got to the best part, the end, there the URL was telling me how I can find out more.

So I changed up my structure of articles to be like this:

I write between 250-350 words normally, unless it's a really beast article. Never do they get up to 700 words.

I structure it like this:

Introduction.

What the problem is.

Delving deeper into the problem.

How I found the solution(but I don't give it away entirely).

And then my resource box.

I place the resource box as my ending. I normally word it like this: "For more information about <x>, click here."

It's simple and it works. It's made me click articles, bookmark them so I can click them again in the past, and it's made me study articles to figure out if I can think of the solution on my own.

Using this structure, I got a CTR of 32%, 10 adsense clicks to the site it pointed to, and 3 amazon sales in that one day, from a 253 word article.

I wrote this to hopefully help anyone wondering about how to get success with article marketing, and if they're still wondering if it's possible to show them that it is.

Cheers

Great post. The next step is moving away from adsense, and towards affiliate marketing or creating products and services. I recently posted a video about this...

Why You Should Remove Ads From Your Blog

Ad networks are inefficient, and aren't a great way to monetize a website. You can literally make 10x more money by providing solutions directly to your visitors.

Thanks for sharing. I'm busy on building back links from high PR sites. Apparently sending articles is still working. It's time to make my back links diversity.

I like this. Looks like a simple yet effective structure to model articles on. I copied this to my computer for future reference. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am sure it will help everyone that reads it.

Yes, such resource boxes work when you promote physical products. But not when you promote digital products or information how to products.

Rick, true. I'm going to do that right now. I only had 2 sites that had adsense on them, but now I have one.

If I would have gotten 10 more sales rather than those adsense clicks, I would've made at least 5x as much as I did.

Tim, cheers mate! Hope you do well

Tyler: I also find it much easier to promote amazon than clickbank products. However, I have a site about learning guitar that I built months ago and forgot about, and it made me $83 with clickbank one week, so I'm considering trying the clickbank road again.

Matt, how do you get content for promoting amazon products? There are no tips and techniques except for reviews. Can you just summarize your method of promotion?

I did promote a product at CJ. This has made me more than $1500 in recurring income from 30 articles. And it would still if the advertiser hadn't closed their CJ account. So all my squidoo accs point to that page.

But I created a website built on wordpress. Wrote a review and three articles. Submitted the articles to ezine. And a week later, I had a $20 sale.

What do you do for landing pages? And do you target niches or individual products? Multiple reviews on landing pages or just single product?

If your product was a Coffee Maker, how do i go about writing articles?

      Thanks,
      Tyler

pretty good, you are on the right way!

And yes, 600-700 words is already way too much, 400-450 max i'd say.

BINGO! That is one of the most often over looked secrets of getting a good CTR.

You need to know that there is a rumor that articles < 450 words cant get into the "most viewed" section on ezine anymore, so i always try 450.

I have heard that too. Actually, I have heard it was 400 but regardless I do not pay too much attention to it. I would rather have a good CTR and articles that rank for the long run then shooting for the quickly removed "Most Viewed" section but that is just me. Don't get me wrong, I understand the benefits of getting on those lists as I have been there before.

Especially with Ezine's pages being loaded with adsense from top, side, to bottom, the sooner they see my link, the better... lol

GeorgeR, well, I guess I'll have to miss out :/. I have been wanting to get into the most viewed section, so maybe I'll toy around with the 400 word thing and see if I can retain my CTR.

tyler: Well, for physical products, I use a simple wordpress site. I normally do a review on my site with a picture of the product and a link to it as well. On article sites, I tend to talk about the problem that my product I'm promoting fixes, and/or the solution it can bring.

So if I was promoting a product about moisterizing, I would talk about how dry skin can affect their health, dating life, confidence, happiness, etc. Then in the resource box link to my site

      Also, congrats on your success!

tycoon: I don't think you can at ezinearticles or article base, but I think I've seen plenty of go articles that have direct affiliate links all over them.

I have one question and hope anyone knows the answer give me a reply.

I have never done article marketing before, so I want to know can I just use domain redirect in EZA and ArticlesBase to promote my affiliate link?

    Example: I register a regular domain : www.abcde.com

    And I promote prodcut A: www.abcde.com/go/productA

    Product B: www.abcde.com/go/productB

    Product C: www.abcde.com/go/productC

Is it acceptable if I want to submit my article to Ezinearticle and ArticlesBase?

    Much thanks!
