    Hi,

    Personally, I used a little bid of pop up, but didn't see much results yet. Some people says pop up are good. There also pop under and it seems less annoyed people.

    It would depend on the niche and the group you are targeting.

    If your targeting the IM group, yes to some of us it's annoying, but they do work. You just have to work a little harder at it sometimes by being unique than your competition.

    In the non-IM niches, pop-ups seem to work much better and with less effort.

      It will hurt your adsense income and it will hurt your over all traffic.

      You gotta think, did your visitor come to your site to specifially see a popup? No.

      Give them time to discover what they come there for first, then present them your special offer or whatever you created the popup for. A 20 second delay would be very reasonable.

        A popup on a page with Adsense ads is against the Adsense TOS.

    You definitely want to have a way on your main website for people to subscribe to your list and receive something free of high value that helps them build a relationship with you. Pop-ups work very well especially when you use them as the visitor arrives or as they are leaving. Give them an irresistible free offer and you will get a ton of subscribers that way, which would of normally just left your site. I know they seem annoying, but that is also why they work so well. As long as you have good follow-up mechanisms in place, then you will be set to go.

    It's in the code of the software/plugin. You'll have the option of setting the delay during the creation of the code or through the plugin.
