Greetings
This is just for inspiration.
Tell the warriors how many hours do you spend with online business? Are you satisfied? when speaking about number of hours, what is enough? and what is not?

I've been much more focused and organized this year, and I've found that at the most, I usually put in 4-6 hours per day. Generally speaking, it's usually 2-4 hours. I also take entire weekends off.

I envy some people who can put in 8, 12 and 16 hour days in, but at the moment it's just not for me. Any more than 6 hours and I can become bored and frustrated. I learned the hard way that if I have a big project to work on, I'm better off spreading it across days, weeks and even months rather than working hours on end every day and night.

I'm happy with the money I make, but I also know I could make more if I put more time in. That's actually quite reassuring - when I want to make more, I know I'll be able to. Want is the key word though - like every one of us, I am where I am now because I want to be. If I actually wanted more, or even less - I'd be there. I learned this from Paul Myers' Need To Know Ebook. Highly recommended if you haven't read it

I try to get in two hours of focused work each morning. I find that the more hours I put in, the longer it takes to get things done. So, limiting that time forces me to be more productive. Might sound like "impractical theory", but it really works.

Does it pay? Yes, but time does not directly = money. It's what you do that counts .

I work only 3 hours a day. 1 hour is deciding how to outsource and 3 hours is working by myself. It does pay off really well. You have to learn to outsource things once you grow beyond a point. It gives you more time

Well I believe time = Money because I'm spending my time doing something that pays. To answer OP question I spend about 10 hours a day during the work week. Mainly doing business, marketing, and improving my skills by studying resources. This is even with outsourcing too.

Does it pay off? Hell yea!

I focus a majority of my resources (time, money, talent) in accomplishing my personal and business goals. That's why I can reap the rewards at the end

It is going to vary from person to person

    Some people are

    1. Hobby - Just meddle around, no determined time given to it
    2. Part time - they hold down a regular job and do it whenever they can
    3. Full timers

It depends as well on the projects your working on for example, when it comes to affiliate marketing which is what I do full time. I do work according to a set time, i just get cracking at it each day and some times the majority of my work is done in the morning, sometimes its afternoon, sometimes at night and sometimes a combination of two if im really wanting to get something accomplished for a set date.

Now I've been at it full time for close to 7 years now and there have been times I have been at it hard for weeks, and other times just a few days a week. The nice part about an online business is once you have something setup and in place, it requires less work to maintain it ( of course depending on what type of project your doing and what you are offering people )

Membership sites are excellent for bringing in money every month and the work involved really depends on what your given people upon access.

Again though a lot of it can be outsourced or setup ahead of time allowing you to not be working like a maniac.

Every person will be different in how things are working

Business is like waves it has a ebb and flow to it.

As Jon says above it will vary between person to person and those who do it part or full time, but I think this thread may gett populated with people saying they only work tiny amounts of hours, outsource almost everything, and make 100s of thousands... I just don't believe it when people say that - if youre working a 10 hour week and earning 100k why not work 20 hours and make 2-3x as much if you are so productive?

When I was part time (i.e. I had a full time 9-5 job) I was still putting in 30+ hours a week. Now I work full time on my online businesses I work 60-80 hour weeks. Hopefully this won't be forever, but even this at the minute is with a lot of basic admin and customer service outsourced.. but I want to build something massive, something unique and I just don't think this is possible working the "10 hour working week" no matter who you are or how much you outsource.

I spend about 30 minutes in the morning and about 30 minutes in the evening to get everything done that needs to be done.

If I'm working on a new project, then I'll work 12+ hours a day to finish it.

You make $1,300 per day and only have to work 1 hour per day. I am jealous. I work 10-11 hours per day and only make 1/4 of that. I guess that's what happens when you try and do it all yourself.

Other people do most of the work for me now.

I started learning in the late 90's and got focused on really making money about 8 years ago. That's a long time in technology.

Believe me I started out working my ass off for very little return, with a free Geocities site of all places, and I'm so glad I went through that struggle because now I really value all that I have.

And not giving up is part of the key, or has been for me.

OK... I have to agree with Jon. I think it really depends and varies from person to person. I used to only spend a couple of hours a day, but I have been doing it full time for a year now. I do not limit myself, since I strongly believe that the same way I was able to put in overtime in the corporate world, I can do it for my own business. The only times I do establish boundaries is on weekends, in order to spend time with my family.

Passion is the only reason that can make me work 18 hrs daily. I am a pharmacy student and I have plans. So working for 18 hrs is not cool to me. Also I need time for chess training, running, reading, and science.

I don't believe that there's a direct relationship between hours worked and revenue when you're starting out.

I work about 1 hour a day now and get more done than when I used to work 10 hours a day.

    It's about working smarter.

If you're wasting 6 hours manually get links when you could have created a product you're likely to need to work far more hours to get the same revenue.

If you're working 10 hours a day and not making full time money - you've got something wrong.

You know. The reason why you work 1 hour a day and can make more than when you worked 10 hours a day before is that: You worked 10 hours a day before and you have learned many things at that time.

So the time you spent definitly matters. If you don't spent 10 hours a day before, do you think you can work only 1 hour now and make the same amount of money?

Yes - this is my point.

The fact that I worked 10 hours a day before (more actually) has ZERO to do with what I can or can't do now.

ANYONE can make good money working a few hours a day. THAT is the point.

        HOURS does not equal MONEY.

OBVIOUSLY more work will very likely be a good thing not a bad thing - but time spent does NOT equal progress.

If I spend 10 hours recording interviews with article marketers and then put that content up for sale - it's probably much more effective that spending 10 hours faffing around getting a blog set up.

But it's obvious that creating good content that I can sell will be worthwhile, but setting up a blog is in itself meaningless and wouldn't make much money quickly.

So - while of course I'm not going to say working hard is a bad thing - the point I'm really trying to make is that working smarter not harder is what it's all about.

I could make a lot more money if I worked more - but I'm not all about money and I like to help people and spend time with people I care about and doing things I enjoy - Life is too short to be chasing money if everything else gets left behind.

When I started in IM 10 years ago I had $100k of debt and put making money ahead of most things because of that. I don't expect that someone in a similar position to that would believe that working all the hours you can spare is not a good idea. For some people - even if they don't make good money - working with all of their spare time is important to them because at least they feel like they're trying as hard as they can and so they won't beat themselves up about their situation so much.

The point here is not to argue over the semantics of whether working is good or bad (of course working on something you enjoy that also makes good money is a good thing - if you love it - work as much as you like), but about whether as a newbie you HAVE to work a certain number of hours.

Of course there is NO certain amount of hours - because it's all about what you do with them.

We all get in to IM with different knowledge, skills and experiences - so no-one can give a one size fits all answer.

It's up to YOU to decide what is the best use of your time with respect to the things that are important to you.

Hey - I'm sat here on a Saturday afternoon typing out these long responses. It's not for my own sake - I could be playing golf.

I'm saying this stuff because I wasted years of hard work thinking that hard work = results.

I'm just trying to share my lesson with you. Don't hate me for it.

      Yes - Agreed.

      But the point still stands.

You can be 'learning' all the wrong stuff and learning things which you should not be paying any attention to.

This niche is full of people with a vested interest in making you think you need to learn everything (they want to sell you the answers and information).

Most people use the 'need to learn it yourself' as an excuse for not getting things done.

Learning is fun - but once you learn a few basic things, your learning can continue WHILE you're making money - learning most IM strategies is NOT required to make money. You can easily get most things done.

People that are spending weeks link building but don't have a solid business are wasting their time.

People learning about SEO before they have a product to sell are wasting their time.

      The list goes on.

People like to use not having any money as their excuse - but look, we have a forum with tens of thousands of members from all over the planet with a massive variety of skills.

All it takes is a dozen members with different skills to get together and they can be making great products easily between them.

The biggest problem is that people want everything for themselves and try to do everything themselves.

There's no reason for any warrior to not be able to create a product and get it online for sale.

People just complicate things and build a big list of excuses for why life isn't so easy for them and they can't get things done. "It's ok for everyone else - I have special reasons why I can't do things" is here all the time. It's just excuses for lack of results and action.

Sorry to be so blunt - but there's a bigger pool of skills and knowledge in this forum than in the biggest companies in the world - people just aren't using it.

I will tell you something. I am from the middle east. This means that earning 3000 $ per month is heroic for a kid in his 21. I am not kidding. We have families that live on 175 $. I am supposed to start working for 220 $ as a medical rep or a pharmacist.
Imagine me in such case and in such social conditions making 3000 $ and this is my goal for the next phase. This is awesome to me. My mates will be struggling for only 10 % of what I get for enjoying my time. Add to that the fact that expenses of life here is not high like the west. I can live as a king for 1000 $ only. ( Not literally but 1000 $ will be enough for wild life here. I will go diving all the time )
What I mean that whatever the time I spend working is? The results for me will worth this time
    I hope it works.

I'd say it depends what marketing you do, and whether you automate you're system, if you just build a list through paid marketing such as adwords and solo ads etc, and have an autorresponder set up, most of your time online is just checking stats and tweaking campaigns, however if you're constantly writing articles/press releases etc, you're going to spend a lot more time online!
