If you want to progress faster focus on better use of your best weapons instead of
constant repair. Outsource what you don't know or bad at and focus on things you do best at. Develop the comfort of commanding and not being commanded. At last be persistent! This is the key to success!!!

I would make it a life long process on improving your English. I think what he meant was if your in a business and you need to work up some quick quality content for an article or website, have it outsourced.

This will give you time to improve more on your English while at the same time moving closer to you goal which is having good articles out there bringing you traffic which will ultimately lead to more money in your pocket.

  I think most internet marketers should take some time to improve their English. I can't tell you how many times I have been turned off by bad grammar on a sales page.

If English isn't your first language then you should definitely take the time to improve your writing skills. In the meantime outsource your writing. There is nothing worse than trying to read articles/sales pages/auto responders where the English is poorly written.

That said I could have written this reply and started it with: If English *is* your first language...

Learning and improving ourselves is always a worthwhile endeavor, however, you can do that in your spare time. I would suggest you develop your marketing skills first. Your English is good enough to get your point across. You can hire an editor to touch up your sales messages for now and make money while you improve your English. On the other hand, if you improve your English before developing your marketing skills, you're delaying any possible income you will make.

I vote for marketing. You can always outsource the writing so it gets done correctly without spinning your wheels learning English, (which is a tricky language to learn)

I agree with everyone. Get some money coming in and work on your writing skills. And yes--English is a very difficult language to master.

Rather than pay someone to do your writing from scratch, I would give it your best shot and then pay someone to proof read it and make minor corrections. That would be less expensive than having them start from scratch.

Yep writing skills are essential if you're marketing to an English speaking audience.

But why not practice your marketing skills in your own language as well? It may be a smaller market but I bet you the competition is much smaller to.

My Dear friend,

I have same problem, but I have decided to focus on creating product (Websites, blogs etc.) and then promoting it. By the mean time I am learning English. As I write and try conversation in the forums like this, my English is improving. But only good grammar and good English can not generate sale. You have to write with your heart.

I would caution against telling someone who doesn't write well in English to outsource English-language articles. He may not have the grasp to see what is and is not poor writing.

Anoop, While it's a good idea to try and improve upon your command over English, don't let it get in the way of your marketing...
Continue pursuing your IM goals, and try to improve upon your English on the fly.

If you've got a course that you do, schedule that for your free times n such. Also, reading always helps !!

You need communication skills.

How do you plan to communicate?

If your answer is "I will write (whatever)" you need to learn writing.

It's entirely possible to do something else, like podcasts or videos, in which case you should study broadcasting. If you appear at seminars, study public speaking.

But the takeaway here is "become a better communicator."

Thanks everybody.I think I must get to work and and learn grammar in spare time. I now realize that it can take me years to master English, so I will take your advice to write and then get it proof read by a native speaker this way at least I will start moving towards my goal.

If you have good writing skills then you should be able to rank high on Google using only Article Marketing and writing quality content for your website. So in my opinion its better to have good writing skills instead of the marketing skills.

Firstly there's not much wrong with your English it's as good many native English speakers including mine.

Of course I don't no how long you are taking to write each post here this maybe a slow and painful process for you.

I would outsource part of your writing and do a small portion yourself. You can treat this small portion as your daily English practice.

If you not confident using this on your website at first you can use it to get back links from sites you wouldn't expect to get a lot of actual traffic from.

In my opinion think about Pareto Principles. The 80/20 Rule. this rule means that 20 percent of the work (the first 10 percent and the last 10 percent) consume 80 percent of your time and resources. You can apply the 80/20 Rule to almost anything, from the science of management to the physical world.

I would recommend you study on writing english and learning about list building as that is one of the important factors of succeeding online as you are aware. I would outsource the marketing side of the business in the interim as they will be creating the traffic to your site (and hopefully converting sales to pay for you to study)

Hi Anoopchawla, I'm from Italy and I've the same problem!
My English is not so good to start a project by myself, so I'm getting help from Odesk.
BUT.... I want to improve my English, so I'm trying this strategy: I translate the infoproduct by myself, and then I outsource the revision.
I could assign the translation of the infoproduct to an Italian-English people, but in this way, I cant do exercise with the language.
And remember that here you can find people (I think) that can do a review of your products and find mistakes.

As long as you can convey the message to the visitor, you can succeed. From your english, I understood what you meant. So, there is nothing wrong in writing the simple way. If you are worried about the sales page, then get it polished by someone with decent english.

Read books
Note down new words
Find their meanings
Apply it in an article you write just so that you won't forget

I would suggest you to learn 2 new words and an idiom on a daily practice.
