Is video marketing really good?

Everyday people are talking about video marketing. And how much traffic it can generate to a website and bla bla bla.

But if I don't have a big list and I'm just starting I can't see how this can help that much. I mean, who I'm going to send the video to?

If I put it on You Tube (with a bunch o other thousands added just that day) what are the chances to have a good amount of traffic from that? I think very low...

The only situation I can think it would be great is if the video goes viral. And it's not easy and guaranteed that a video will go viral.

YouTube ranks really well in the search engines. You can find some long tail keywords you want to rank for and put them in the title and tags of your video. Then simply build some links to the video with the keywords in the anchor text and the video has a great chance of ranking well. You can include a call to action in the video and a link to your site in the description to get some of the traffic back to your site.

We do this for our clients at TrafficSage on YouTube and all the top video sites.

You can do video responses on youtube. And you can use video to help BUILD your list.

It isn't just for traffic. You can drive traffic to video squeeze pages. Then use video on your blog/website for content.

Next, if your video has spoken content, you can pull the audio out and upload to podcasting sites and other sites that share audio. That can get traffic too.

Finally, you can always create a video and use it on Google with their new TV ads. So yes, I would say that using video in your marketing is indeed worth it.

GREAT suggestions Rob... People do not quite understand what to do with videos. This is in great part due to the fact that most only associate YouTube with videos. But I most certainly recommend placing videos on sites, and blogs. I have even seen some squeeze pages with videos, though I do not think I'd recommend placing a video in a squeeze page.

Regardless of which option Gabriel decides to use, he should ensure that the video is entertaining, creative and informative. If the video is boring it isn't going to have the same reactions as if it is interesting. It is one of the simple rules of marketing, be it print, email, audio or video, if the person does not see anything interesting in your Ad (regardless of the format) they simply aren't going to spend much time on it.

Absolutely agree with Ron. Videos can be nicely optimised for the search engines relatively simply. If you explore windows (go to your start bar - search bar - and type "movie" it will probably come up with Windows Movie Maker. Have a play with that.

    Hi there to everyone,

As experienced member has said lot about pros of hosting or posting videos. I want to say few words about untouched issue.
Nowadays lots of peoples are coming towards IM, hundreds of products for a single need and thousands of websites per product. Everybody can have a SEO service, back linking service which ridiculously( they say it themselves ) cheap. Now if your site is getting traffic, What/Who is there to make sure that traffic get converted into buyer? People on net are getting smarter and they know mini site or tons of WP blogs are there to make money. What make them serious about what you are saying? Special Efforts!!! A custom video gives your site bit more human touch, not a site on autopilot mode.

    Thanks,
    Ed

As more and more people access the web using cellphones, iPads, etc., the number of videos views has been increasing and will continue to increase as videos are much easier to view then articles (not to say articles are bad but it's smart to diversify your marketing).

Initially it may be misleading that video marketing has no effect. But in the long run, it can drive a lot of traffic. When you observe many youtube videos, you can note that the traffic increases exponentially. I posted a video 1.5 years back and I forgot about it. For the first 3 months it generated very little traffic and later I got very high quality leads from that video.

I cannot reveal too much. But see this:

I have a very clear call to action at the end of the video and also in the description. In my opinion, article marketing + video marketing = awesome results
