Question - WordPress Theme - Landing Page

Ok I have a good wordpress Theme I paid money for.
The HOME page is awesome and love it.
But, is there a WAY I could create multiple HOME pages to target different KEYWORDS?

Please anyone help, I thought about creating a subdomain and instal wordpress/database and target keywords to the home page.

What is everyone doing?

Use 'exclude page' plug-in. Have as many home pages as you like. They cannot get back to anything but one home page from the nav bar, but can land on any number of pages that look like a home page.
They can use the back button to get back to it, but people won't think of that. They will think it's pretty kool how you got the home page to change though.

Cool strategy, DogScout! I would have simply created pages targeting the keywords, and then sent traffic to all the keyword pages. Maybe too simple? Dee Ross

DogScout's suggestion is a great strategy if want all those landing pages "hidden" in your navigation tabs.

I was so happy when someone here at the WF pointed me to the "excluse pages" plugin some time back. And that may be just what the OP wants.

In the event that the OP isn't actually sure how to allocate the Homepage template in the first place, though (where the PageTemplate for that theme may have a different layout)... or does want those other landing pages to show up in the nav...

Create a new Page and look on the right-hand side before you publish... you should see a drop-down that asks you which PageTemplate you'd like to allocate.

Simply choose the HomePage template et voila! Publish.

    Hope that helps!

    Just a thought

Are you not better of having your landing pages hosted with a different company and having a different feel to them. This has the advantage of building back links back into your main sight which is better for seo.

Just another thought, the HOME page on the theme uses the database, and what I want to do is replicate the HOME page then exclude it from the NAV bar, but customize the second HOME page with different keyword.
The reason for this is because the THEME's home page is a distinct home page where when you click on Appearance you can edit the home page within the Themes options.

    Thanks

Another idea is to wpmu and set up each keyword on a subdomain through the wpmu admin. Will make managing a ton easier.

Also you may look into child themes for your main theme. By using child themes you make custom changes to your main theme without changing any original code.

You mentioned you paid for your theme but I find it strange that the theme itself does not have the ability to excludes pages, categories and such. You don't need a plugin if you know enough php to be able to make minor changes.

I would give you a link but I'm a noob. Search the googles for "WordPress Template Tags" for info on modding a theme.

The nice part about unconnected homepages (or connected just one way) is you should have a different landing page for every keyword you target. Both for SEO but mainly so you can design and test each keyword user's main profile as to what converts the most for users of that keyword. Make sense?

People putting one keyword in are a different personality as those that put a different keyword in. Having multiple 'home' or 'landing' pages allows you to optimize those pages for the keyword user's most likely personality.
