When you sell a product....

What kind of things do you 'ADD-ON' in order to increase the perceived/actual value of a product, and bump the "retail" price higher?

For example, do you pile on bonuses? Do you include free upgrades or additions to the course/product?....just wondering....

You can add bonuses, but I'd only suggest doing something like that if the bonuses that you're offering actually supplement the main product that you're selling.

Otherwise you'll just come off as a greedy seller who's trying to push off as much as he can to make a few extra bucks... That's not very good for your image. :p

Oh, I agree....but, for some of my products, a HIGHER price actually seems to do better....I don't know what it is about lower pricing, but, it seems as if people are resistant to buy, sometimes, when a great product is priced very low (Perhaps, thinking that it has no value because of the price associated with it...)

This IM stuff sure is interesting....

I've had more success selling one of my products at $100 that $50 when split testing. Which is fine by me by the way!

But seriously, I think your absolutely spot on with the price thing. People associate price with quality. A higher price gives them the perception of a higher-quality product.

Think of it this way... Say someone needed brain surgery and they went to 2 surgeons for a price.

Surgeon 'A' is charging $10,000 whilst Surgeon 'B' is doing a 'special offer' of just $500. Which one would you go for?

        The $10,000 of course!

They might even be equally skilled and as good as each other, but the perception is that because Doctor A is charging $10,000 he must be the best (which everybody wants with anything they buy).

It's always a must to price test your product IMO... You might just be surprised and could even double or treble your money from your product for NO extra work!

Split testing your price is important, but you should also split test your bonus offers. Just read 50 different sales letters today and you can find a wide range of bonus offers and strategies, but the answer to what is most profitable can only be answered by testing.

The only thing I add is "quality" I don't need to try to increase the value. I make sure it is quality.

My site flipping guide came with no bonus but it is doing well for buyers and the refund rate has been less than 2%.

If it is an ebook, add videos, mind maps, membership card, report. Case studies etc. to raise perceived value.
