Re-invest in your business

The trouble with money is that it excites. Excitement is okay until it drives us nuts. We start behaving so different we feel so unique.

A good business will only grow to potential if you refuse to be driven by the ego and instead realize that whatever success you have gained is due to some input in whatever form- financial, energy or time.

Reinvestment means giving back the returns to give more impetus to the business to grow. Sadly for most of us, we must rely on that business for all our real and imagined wants and rarely have anything left over for the business. A starved business will show all signs of malnutrition- stunted growth, inability to weather storms and sure and imminent signs of a slow death.

Death will also mean that it will no longer be able to give the fruits that you have enjoyed and soon a real malnourished businessman will be very visible.

Reinvestment may mean frugality, but it will be short term. A little later, the fruits will not only be able to nourish the business, but you too.

I find that I do a much better job reinvesting in a business that I plan to do it with before starting. When you start thinking about reinvesting while you are still in the planning phase, then you have a clear picture of why you are reinvesting as well as a plan to do so.
