Can you recommend a great free ebook to give to an offline business owner? Doesn't have to be about IM.

What's the goal of giving it to them?

Sell them on your IM services?
Teach them how to build their own website?
Show them the fundamentals of SMB accounting?

A local accountant will give it to their clients as a free gift. No particular topic in mind. I'm thinking of PDFs from people like Jay Abraham that give a lot of quality advice for growing a business.

    There isn't one.

There are thousands of angles to approach marketing and online marketing from - and where they're starting from will make all the difference.

Business is personal to the owner and no one ebook will ever be right for everyone.

It depends what they want to know, what busines they're in, why they care about IM, whether they're intending to do it themselves, if they have staff, etc. etc.....

The same as no-one can tell you what is the best way to start.

I've said it plenty of times before.

      Hi Andy,

I understand that. Well I'll change the question. If you met an offline business owner, and wanted to tell them about a great free ebook to read, what would you recommend? It doesn't have to be about IM.

I'm missing something - why would I want to tell them about an ebook?

What is it you're trying to do for them?

I can tell them anything they need to know, and if it's not about IM - what is it about?

I could give them the twitter book I wrote, or one about investing in silver, customer service, blogging, link building, but what is it supposed to do for them?

It's for a client (accountant) to give to their clients as a gift.

    OK, now we're getting somewhere.

What is it they want to achieve?

Giving them some random ebook could have a negative effect. Why don't you do a search for a finance related ebook?

I have an investing book but it's not free, but he could give them a free report and then make $5 referring people to it from his report.

People knock on my door handing out little free booklets nearly every week, it does not mean i read them before i throw them in the bin.

ask yourself if the accountant gave you a book what would you want it to read ?

I give all my clients a copy of Bill Glazer's 'Outrageous Marketing That Works Outrageously'

I buy it at Amazon and give them the physical copy. It usually helps them with their direct marketing and shows I care more than just about on-line stuff.

I have given one client Dan Kennedy's books, as well, three, time management, employee management and marketing to the affluent as he was weak in these areas.

    But that is just me.

If you want a great REAL WORLD book which isn't free, then I recommend:
Jay Abrahams, Getting everything you can out of all you've got.

In fact, I'm going to get my copy out again and study it in order to ramp
up my business a little more.

How about a great real not free e-book? It's literally changed my life... Check out 4 hour work week by Tim Ferris.

Anybody who is in IM should read this. It should be our bible... about 10x more useful than ANY IM related product out there.

Not sure I agree with that. I read it and it was ok, but I didn't find it anything special.

Jay Abraham's stuff is awesome. I study his work the most.

        Some of his material,

-Internet Strategies (maximizing your results on the internet). I think a 6-7 part pdf series.

-Tony Robbins powertalk interview (2 hours). Great stuff! Not free, maybe $10 on ebay. Great introduction to his mindset and philosophies.

-His mass market books are great, "Getting everything you can out of all you've got."

He use to have free reports and papers on his website.
