How would you start your IM career if you were in my shoes?

Hi

My name is Andreas Schneider I'm 19 years old. I'm still really new in internet marketing and I would just like to know how you would begin your internet career if you had the same resources as I.
So, here is a brief look at those resources:
  • Budget is set at $150 a month (living on student salery)
  • Because I'm a student my only sparetime is the weekends and a few hours after school

Not sure what else i should tell you, if anything please ask.

Best regards
Andreas Schneider

Knowing something about your skills and interests would help. The more skills you already have, the more directions you will have to choose from.

    Things like:
    • can you write well?
    • can you create web pages?
    • can you create graphics?
    • any special knowledge you have?
That would be a good start.

As for skills I know that I can create a webpage, not from scratch with coding and such but I can use wordpress, not sure if that requires much skill though.
I know a lot about the human body, studying biology at high level.
I have some small experience with Photoshop but not something amazing.
As for writing I would say that I'm fair.

You have come to the right place. This forum is full of tons of ideas and knowledge. Enough that if you are willing to do the research you don't ever need to buy any how-to stuff (though eventually some of it is worth having, just not at first.)

As for actually putting something into action, Buy a domain, set up some cheap hosting and start putting up at least one page of good unique content every day, find a link every day and keep doing that while you are learning. Pick up the basics of SEO (Unique titles, description, tags, linking etc.) and use what you learn on your site.

Learn how to build a list and keep them active and get started on that next.

The main thing is get started and keep learning as you go. And don't spend money on stuff you don't need until you have learned as much as possible from the great free resources that are available.

There are many paths to making money online, and the above is not necessarily best, just one possibility.

Ignore the budget, you want to MAKE money not spend it! <--- RULE #1

Hosting, domains etc. is all only a few bucks, signing up with ezine, clickbank, cpalead....its all FREE

I would use some of the money, get a couple domains, learn wordpress, learn keyword resaerch (market samurai), hire some guys for outsourcing article writing and there you go.

In your few hours after school, research some good keywords, then go on DP forum or here, hire some writers, give them the list what articles to write. And on your domains you redirect to the related clickbank offers.

I'm a strong believer in building a list (you pay for hosting, auto-responder and domains) which can be worked on when and where you have time ...

With a couple of hours here and there ...

    - Join giveaway events
    - Prepare your emails for the next week or month
    - Create some free reports for your list to build relationships
    - Post on blogs or forums
    - Write a couple of articles
    - Get followers on Twitter

And to focus on montetizing the Thank You page, the Download Page or finding and promoting a one-time-offer to new list members (eg. some PLR).

That's what I'm working on and wish I'd done years ago.

You should look into video marketing & article marketing. All you need to do is
spend a few bucks on a domain, and redirect it to an affiliate product. Then
promote your url with videos, articles or both.

You can also do some freelance work, like writing etc...

Go pitch SEO services to local companies. Charge them large amounts of money, then use that to outsource whatever you need done.

Use the $150 to pay for hosting, an aweber account, a Traffic Geyser Account and business cards.

If I were you, I would get affiliate marketing coaching from a reputable source, even if it's a monthly membership.

Reason I say that is because it's best to get the big picture of affiliate marketing and learn the different traffic techniques all in one place, versus jumping from ebook to ebook. There goes your $150 very quickly. Plus, information overload sets in. As a student you understand how important a good education is.

Yes, you'll need webhosting, domain name and all that eventually. Learn what you need first all at once instead of finding out piecemeal.

Don't go paying for those corporate programs that are $8000 - $10000. You don't need to spend that kind of money to learn how to profit from affiliate marketing. Many coaching courses are online where you can go at your own pace, you learn all the main skills at once, and you can find some for under $50 a month.

There's a really good blog post on Moola Days that talks about how to choose the good ones: Internet Marketing Coach: 9 Tips For Finding A Good Teacher | Articles MD

One of the best things you could have done was join this forum. It is truly awesome and a wealth of information, however in my humble opinion, the best thing you can do to save yourself time and money is to find a mentor - someone who can help you really understand all the dynamics of internet marketing, it is extremely simple, once you understand all the dynamics... Otherwise you may make some money, however more than not, you will waste more time, energy and resources.

I have a system that helped me enormously to understand the dynamics of every inch of this arena, until then it was like, I knew if i kept digging, eventually I will find gold, with this system, the guessing game was over, and finally all the pieces of the puzzle came together...

Feel free to check out my blog at www.blogandgrowrichonline.com and or visit www.recruitandgrowrich.com - it is an introduction to how to truly understand all aspects of internet marketing, and with this system, at most monthly you will need about $70, however if you make the time to truly 'study' the foundation, within 30-60 days, you could make a check with a comma it, it all depends on how much time you have to give. 1-2 hours a day would be sufficient. The more you give the faster you will be in position to make a profit..

Sorry, this is kind of a long reply, but I am very passionate about helping others understand this arena in its entirety - those who don't end up giving up... and many times end up spending more money they need to 'trying' to figure it all out.. an e-book here a report there... using the system that helped me is a wonderful start... hope this helps...
