Monetizing advice please!

hey guys...i recently created a couple small niche sites with the intent to monetizing using amazon and adsense. Previously i only used clickbank so about 2 weeks ago i signed up for adsense under the notion that it would only take a week to get approved. After emailing them i got a response saying that it is going to take 2 months for a response and I'm not sure if i can wait that long. Does anyone have suggestions on an alternative?..other ways you suggest i monetize?

I'm not an Ad Sense expert but I think I recently read the domain had to be at least 6 months old to be approved on top of all their other requirements. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. Good luck.

Why not just promote clickbank products for now? Personally I prefer
to promote affiliate products instead of putting up
    PPC ads on my sites.

I currently have a couple of sites that are solely based around clickbank products... this site is actually a fan site for a celebrity that i planned on driving traffic to with some amazon links to every now and then. I should have elaborated more in the post. Thanks for your response!

  • There are other networks besides Google you know, and some of them should be able to approve you faster. Try The AdBrite affiliate network, I've heard some great things about them. Also if you're getting a LOT of traffic, there's numerous ways to monetize your site.

Don't just get stuck on 1 or 2 methods when there are 20+. I hope this helps you out and I wish you the best of luck.

take your niche sites and create channels on youtube for them. YouTube is 2nd to Google in the search engines, and it's not even a search engine.

You can also monetize your sites with Kontera, Chitika, Adbrite. I've never used these, so I don't know how they work. Text Link ads are another I think.

You'll need to be drawing lots of traffic before you can really make some money from ads. I mean lots and lots of traffic--in the thousands. That could be the reason why Google said they'd get back to you. Who knows.

Clickbank is good. They always pay on time. Amazon is good, but pay attention. They've been dropping affiliates from states who are instituting sales tax on internet sales. Just be wary that your state could be next...if that affects you.

Since you've got a celebrity site, make use of Facebook groups related to your site. Twitter your blog posts. Celebrities are hot topics all the time. You shouldn't have too many problems.

Don't forget about affiliate programs like Allposters.com. Twilight posters are a huge hit there.

Think about forums related to you niche, especially if it's celebrity. Perez Hilton's blog. Leave comments. Add your webpage so you get a backlink (unless Perez Hilton put a no follow script on it).

Think outside of the box and go where traffic is already swarming. Don't forget StumbleUpon. If your site is really nice looking and attracts the eye, Stumblers like looking at that stuff. There are tons of categories for you to choose from.

    Hi Ross,

Your fellow warriors have given you some great advertising alternatives you can promote. There is Adbrite, Kontera and Chitika. But if you want Clickbank, then it will depend on your niche.

How did Amazon go? Why don't you just stick with that. After all, it is how many clicks and sales you get and not about how many ads you put on the page.

Or as an alternative, build the site first. Once you get in a decent traffic, I think Adsense will approve you much faster.

    Hope that helps,

    Aira
