Lets not mess about no more. Pick a product and sell it.

I've just had what I would call a revelation today.

Myself, and others here (and on any other marketing platform) always ask the same questions "How do I choose a good product", or "Whats your method of picking a good product". Everyone wants to know what products are selling right now. But in all fairness the product don't sell itself, it's the marketers efforts and hard work that are selling the product.

My head just told me:

"Pick the product, stop wasting time, and sell the darn thing James!"

There are millions upon millions of products out there. Nobody knows if a product will sell until they try it. What works for you does not work for me because we use different techniques, different marketing methods, we have different habits.

Imagine if your boss said to you "Right boys and girls our client has gave us this product. Lets put our heads together and figure out how we are going to sell it for them". You would research, put your toe in the water, decide how, where, when and to who this product is for. You'd have no choice but to sell it, so you would make it work or face losing your job.

There are some factors you can consider before picking a product like the popularity, trends, competition, the sales page, the price, etc. but there is no method to finding a product.

And whilst writing this, something else hit me. This is why gurus say "Do something you feel passionate about, or you have some understanding or want to understand". I considered myself infertile at 25. I know the upset it brings when you've been trying for children and it don't work. So if I was to chose that niche area and try to sell a book or a product I would be able to put all my heart into. Granted I know little about that area but I have personal feelings towards it.

Sorry if I am rabbiting on. Next time you find yourself stressing to look for a product, just say to yourself

"Here are my options, pick one, and MAKE it sell"

Well you can only "SELL" a product successfully if it's presented well and is a good product with good reviews.

So you can't simply jump in and promote anything. Wasting time, money and energy is not a smart move.

Learn how to choose products wisely and then sell them hard. ;-)

      I will quote from above:

And this is aimed more at the beginners tbh. How much time do/have we all wasting sifting through products, or methods of finding new products. Would it not be better to waste time actively selling products with a possibility of some return than it is to sit there and read countless threads about "this made me $1,000" which is already saturated and will make you very little?

You can only "Sell" a product successfully if it is what people want! Bottom line! If it's not what they want then you are wasting your time.

Oh yes that too. But that is a given prior to research obviously. But you'll be surprised how many people get it wrong!

Good point! As you said, there are certainly criteria you can use in order to make your chance of success as strong as possible, but once an affiliate makes their best guess, just go for it! If it doesn't sell no matter what you do, well, then you know.

The way to choose products that works best for me is not to just peruse ClickBank or the other affiliate networks, but rather to choose something that someone I already trust has created. I follow various blogs written by people I respect, and then if they have a product to sell, I know I can get behind it 100%.

That is a great point Laura. Following specific people that do do launches are geat ways to get products that will sell. You already know that the person is a good marketer and that their stuff will sell. So when they launch something, go for it.

The other thing about just taking action is huge. I see so many people that will write one article or do one video or something and when it doesn't sell, they get mad. Well suck it up and actually get to work. Every product will sell, just some sell better. So pick something that you like and go for it.

Looking for or deciding on a "product" to sell should only come after you find out what people want. Just deciding on a product to sell could spell disaster if it isn't what people want. Find out what people want and give it to them. This applies to whether you are an affiliate or a product creator.

You will never appeal to everyone. There is a market for every product out there, which is why I said pick a product (following guidelines and common sense etc) and research your market.

If your talking about offline marketing yes. But this is online marketing. There is a market for every niche you just have to discover it. This is keyword research, niche research, product research and any other research that will help you drill into your audience.

Like someone pointed out, some products will sell more than others but you will never know without trial.

And just because you think people don't want a product is not to say they dont want it. Maybe they have never been introduced to the product. Unless you ask them (market the product to them) you will never know if they want it.

Following "trends", which is similar to what your saying, is not the only way to sell a product.

I am a great believer in the following principle

Any action is better than no action

Within reason of course if you're trying to decide between 2 products a coin flip is better than dithering for a month. After 30 days you have either made a lot of money or you know what doesn't work if you're still dithering you have zero chance of making any money and you know nothing.

If you're fed up with your neighbors dog barking and your two solution are discussing the situation over a coffee (with your neighbor not the dog) and taking your shotgun and blow it's head off (the dogs not your neighbors) then following this principle is not wise

I'm fed up with thinking about how to do a certain thing.

It's like when you already have the chance to do a certain thing, do it.

Be prepared for failure. Because until you don't fail you will never ever succeed.

If you overcome your failures and correct your mistakes, that's what makes you a winner.

For newbies, IM works. But until you don't follow guidelines from a reputable marketer and implement it quickly, you will never know whether it really works for you or not.

Develop a skill. Polish it. Take experience.

You always have to test your self.

You always have to keep testing. IT'S AN EXPERIMENT.

INTERNET MARKETING IS BASED COMPLETELY ON EXPERIMENTATION.

You can only succeed if you experiment. But to experiment, you need to TAKE ACTION NOW. Get. SET. GO!
