Want RSS Subscribers?

I was just wanting to know what everyone did to add to their subscribership for their blogg RSS feed.

Right now all I am doing is asking for people to join in my blog posts and I have a location twice on my blog where they can join my feed.

What else is anyone doing to get subscribers faster? Would love to hear what else people are doing.

Steve

You know, it's interesting that you ask this. I asked a question close to this and my post got pushed to the second page.

I doubt the majority of the warriors here are full time bloggers.

I haven't used this tip personally, but it's on my "to do" list to test it out on some of my blogs.

Anyway, the tip is to offer a freebie to your RSS subscribers. The trick in being able to do this is to use a plug in like the Feedvertising plug-in, which allows you to show content ONLY to your RSS subscribers.

Of course don't just throw any ol' freebie into the feed. Make it valuable. Make it something your prospects want. Heck, make it something similar to the solutions your prospects are already paying for elsewhere.

    Cheers,
    Becky

Have you ever thought of creating unique YouTube videos and spreading your videos virally , through means of multiple social networks, and use social bookmarking, in hopes to getting new RSS subscribers? ArticlePlayground is doing it and it's working, slowly but surely!

Perhaps you can recommend your RSS feeds to be used by other bloggers as a way of spreading your content around. I.E. if you like the information I provide and you need more content for your blogs then subscribe to my RSS feed and my content can be posted directly to your blog. You do two things, your site gets more traffic because your information is spread around the net, and two, your providing quality content for others who may in turn end up being customers.

I recently created a little site just to promote our article directory RSS feeds and encouraged people to sign up to our RSS feeds and also encourage blog and website owners to display the feeds on their sites. I can not tell you how successful the project has been so far as it is quite new but that is the best I could come up with.

Looking forward to get some more new ideas in this thread.

Many people don't know how to subscribe to RSS feeds via traditional "readers". This is true even in tech savvy niches.

But people do know how to enter their e-mail address and subscribe to things.

If you "burn" your blog's RSS feed using feedburner: http://feedburner.google.com (VERY easy and free )

They have an option to post a email sign up box on your blog:
    TechSmith | Screencast.com, online video sharing, 2010-04-19_2137

Click on the "publicize" tab at the top of the screen.

Then click on "email subscriptions" on the left hand side.

Copy and paste the code into a "text" widget and display it in the sidebar of your blog.

You can set frequency and the time emails get sent to the people who sign up. Along with a bunch of other options.

The delivery rate is usually VERY high..

This is what the box looks like on your blog: YouTube Demo Wordpress Blog (This is NOT an active blog)

This is a great way to get subscribers...

Also, since you can customize the confirmation email, you can give away a freebie for subscribing...

Thanks for all of the advise.

I do have a place to gather emails on my blog and I get people opting into that all the time but I thought there might be a way to increase subsribership to the RSS more than I have been doing.

I am going to look into some of the things suggested like giving an offer to the RSS readers.

    Thanks
