Hi all

Apologies if this has been asked / answered before.

Hoping someone can help out with their valuable suggestion.

I realise that when building any sort of affiliate based site, we as affiliates are required (By the FTC) to disclose the nature of our relationship with the product / service vendors to any visitors on our site.

How do you all do this??

Do you place an affiliate disclosure statement next to your affiliate product links or is there another less intrusive (clever) way of doing this??

Any suggestions would be a great help.

Thanks

    Hey Pappyy,

I can only tell you what I do, and that is at the bottom of EVERY page or POST i have a statement that says something like "link on this page are affiliate links and the webmaster gets paid commission etc...."

    Something like that.

    Hope this helps

Yep, I put a bit of text in the footer of every page that says that links are affiliate links, owner of the site could be paid a commission etc... - then I link to a full disclosure page that spells everything out in detail.

I don't think it's necessary to put it right next to or under the link itself, but I've seen that done also.

The new FTC rules were a response to the increase of flogs (fake blogs), so if your site is legitimate, with honest content, real comments, etc... I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I put a disclaimer at the bottom of all emails, a disclaimer in the footer of my web pages and I make my affiliate disclaimer a page on my blog. Hope that's enough to satisfy the ftc

It's not enforcable in the UK, however, if the product you are affiliated with is based in the US then the vendor will be forced to close your account as an affiliate if they are contacted by the FTC. That's how I have interpreted it anyway, I could be wrong.

The reply from Lee (thankyou) raises a good point.

Does anyone know which Countries / regions the FTC regulations apply to??

I'm aware they apply to the U.S and Australia (I think??). Any others??

Thanks for all the previous replies everyone!!!!

I use a standard disclaimer on the bottom of each page that has any affiliate links.
I also have an Affiliate Page with long detailed boilerplate language to disclaim the same thing.

I'm not sure you even have to do anything if you are not US based.

On Review sites do you admit you are not a user of the product and are getting a commission from links???

I am just starting several review sites and I can`t believe the poor quality of the top ranking sites.I am in the process of testing a few products and hopfully my honest day by day or week by week blog posts will shine through. At least im getting better at videos.

I am in the Uk but I have a Disclaimer page and I link to that at the bottom of each page.
